UFC Looking For A New Home In G4 Network

Mixed martial arts producer Ultimate Fighting Championship has held talks to buy a controlling stake in NBCUniversal's G4 cable network, sources confirmed a report by The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. A source familiar with the situation said UFC has also talked to other networks ahead of the expiration of its current content deal with Viacom's Spike network . UFC also offers regular pay per view events. Talks are at an early stage, the person said. UFC and G4 officials declined comment. A deal for G4, which targets young men, would give UFC its own distribution outlet for its bouts. Comcast took control of NBCUniversal in late January. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

UFC Champs VS WEC Champs Could Be On The Horizon

UFC Champs VS WEC Champs Could Be On The Horizon I am a huge UFC and WEC fan this news is music to my ears. For more than a year, Zuffa officials have been adamant with decries that the Ultimate Fighting Championship and its sister promotion, World Extreme Cagefighting , will operate as independent organizations. But for the first time, a company executive has suggested the WEC may get a promotional push by the UFC, and it could result in superfights between the two organizations' biggest stars. Today during a UFC Fan Expo London 2010 Q&A session at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, UFC co-owner and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta admitted the time likely has come for the UFC to help its smaller partner. After all, while the WEC has produced some of the best and most competitive events of the past few years, ratings have sunk, attendance figures have flat-lined (when WEC star Urijah Faber isn't on the card), and yet the company continues producing some of the spo

Brock Lesnar Healed And Ready To Return To UFC

Brock Lesnar Healed And Ready To Return To UFC As recently as early January, Brock Lesnar was convinced he needed surgery to deal with a case of diverticulitis – a condition that essentially left a hole in his intestine and put his career as Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title holder in jeopardy. He might be out a year. Or it might be two. Or it might be forever. Instead, a series of doctor’s visits and tests have revealed what both Lesnar and UFC president Dana White described as a “miracle.” The big guy is healed and ready to return to the Octagon this summer, probably against the winner of the fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin in March. “Let’s be clear, I’m still the heavyweight champion,” Lesnar growled, in trademark fashion, on ESPN on Wednesday morning. There couldn’t be better news for the UFC and fans of mixed martial arts. Lesnar isn’t just apparently well again (although really, who knows if there could be a setback or another episode), but his return to

UFC's Brock Lesnar In For A Fight

UFC's Brock Lesnar In For A Fight And It's Not In The Octagon This lets you know that no one is invisible. Even the toughest guys in the world. My best goes out To Brock and wish him a speedy recovery.I for one want to see him fight again. His life was now about family, training and humble hard work. It was the antithesis of his days making millions in the cutthroat, 300-days-on-the-road, close-down-the-nightclubs-fast-lane of the WWE. That was an existence he grew to detest, so much so that five years ago he walked away from a multi-million dollar contract with no job. Then an interesting thing happened. By moving to real fighting, he found the real Brock Lesnar. “This is who I am,” he said. “I’m a fighter.” Now Lesnar is in for the biggest fight of his life; dealing with a serious illness – at this point just described as “bacterial infection in his intestinal tract.” He had “minor surgery” in Bismarck, N.D. Tuesday, according to UFC president Dana White. “Not 100 (percen
