BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Prometheus Get To Know David

Fox is kicking the viral campaign for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus up a notch with a brand new video, and Mashable has the exclusive. The studio has crafted an awesome — and creepy — advertisement for “David,” the latest generation android from the fictitious Weyland Corporation. The ad introduces us to David, played by Michael Fassbender , who serves as the butler and maintenance man on the ship at the center of the film. Prometheus , which hits theaters on June 8, 2012, is said to have elements or “DNA” from Scott’s earlier film Alien. The film follows the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as they explore an advanced alien civilization while searching for the origins of humanity. To promote the film, Fox has worked hard to develop an intricate viral marketing campaign. In February, attendees at TED got to view a TEDTalk from the future , by way of a video set in 2023. That talk was given by Guy Pearce , who plays the CEO of the Weyland Corporation in the film. Fox is also put

Angelina Jolie Could Join The Counselor

Insiders tell us that Ridley Scott's planned Cormac McCarthy narco-thriller, The Counselor , is rapidly heating up, so much so that Twentieth Century Fox is now in active discussions to distribute and possibly co-finance the movie — provided Scott gets the white-hot cast he's seeking. For instance, on top of Michael Fassbender , who has previously been confirmed to star (which would mark his second collaboration with Scott following this summer's Prometheus ), a Fox insider tells us that Angelina Jolie is in talks with Scott to take a small part. The film, based on an original script by McCarthy, the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Road and No Country for Old Men , is about a lawyer who wants to get just a little bit involved in the drug business. He then discovers that there's no such thing as a little bit involved in the drug business. Intriguingly, Disney announced yesterday that Jolie's upcoming film Maleficent will be released in the United State

Really A Mummy Reboot. Come On

Looks like someone at Universal took a gander at Sony re-booting the Spider-Man franchise after the last outing in 2007 and thought both, ‘Hhm… maybe we should tap that reboot reservoir...’ and, ‘Pah! 2007? Lightweights. We’ll up the ante and relaunch something that last saw cinemas in 2008!’ Hence today’s announcement that the studio has decided to reboot The Mummy . The producers – including franchise veteran Sean Daniel – have decided that Prometheus co-writer Jon Spaihts is the man to dust off Imhotep and give him a new coat of sand and evil. "I see it as the sort of opportunity I had with Prometheus: to go back to a franchise's roots in dark, scary source material and simultaneously open it up to an epic scale we haven't seen before," Spaihts tells Variety. Stephen Sommers brought Universal's veteran Egyptian troublemaker back to life in 1999, after a classic Boris Karloff effort back in 1932 and a few remakes / spin-offs in the 1940s. Sommers cast Bren

Idris Elba Has No Good Deed

Idris Elba ’s film career is going great guns at the moment, with a heartily varied range of roles. And now it looks like he wants to try his hand at being truly menacing. He’s signed on to co-star with Taraji P Henson in the thriller No Good Deed . The act of charity in question involves Henson as a former District Attorney who has opted to become a stay-at-home-mom to her two children. Their lives take a turn for the scare-shaped when they offer a ride to a compelling stranger whose car runs off the road in front of them. Cue kidnapping, terror and, we’d expect, Henson getting the chance to be tough. Clearly, there is a lesson to be learned from all of this: do not ever five strangers a ride from the side of the road even if they are as seemingly as charming and handsome as Idris Elba . Among Giants director Sam Miller, who oversaw the majority of Luther episodes, is on board to make the film starting next month in Atlanta. Elba will next be seen in Ridley Scott’s Prome

X-Men: First Class Sequel Has It's Director

That is changing, and the quality of the recent films released by the studio has improved. Fox has just closed a deal with Matthew Vaughn to come back and direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class , with Simon Kinberg writing the script and Bryan Singer back as producer. The studio is so delighted with the job that Josh Trank did on the upcoming under-$20 million thriller Chronicle that he is being eyed for a big assignment, possibly the reboot of Fantastic Four . The studio has made a priority of the sequel to last summer’s hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes, with Rupert Wyatt back behind the camera. Fox, after ending the year with the Cameron Crowe directed We Bought a Zoo , has the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed Prometheus ; and the studio got Timur Bekmambetov to direct Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter . That film was produced by Tim Burton, who will direct for the studio Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, with a script being written by X-Men: First Class scribe Jane G

Jeremy Renner Talks Bourne

No movie has attracted quite as much speculation in recent years as the Bourne sequel/reboot/thingamajig. Rumour and counter-rumour have swirled around the project like mist around Prometheus . When Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass demurred and Jeremy Renner and Tony Gilroy stepped up, the question was: who is Renner playing and how would The Bourne Legacy fit into the existing universe? "My character is called Aaron Cross ," Renner told us, "but he ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters." So is Treadstone still involved? "Yeah, it's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash. It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a Bourne movie." Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

Charlize Theron Will Star In "Zwart Water"

Summit Entertainment has come aboard to remake the Dutch horror thriller Zwart Water with Charlize Theron attached to produce and star. Scott Derrickson, the writer-director behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose , will helm the remake from a script he wrote with Emily Rose collaborator Paul Boardman. Zwart Water centers on a nine-year girl old who discovers that her new friend is not only sinister but also is her mother's dead twin. Theron is attached to play the mother, who is not quite right in the head, as they say. The movie, which was released in Europe last year, was re-titled Two Eyes Staring when hit international circuits, most recently playing at Fantastic Fest in September. Theron picked up the remake rights last year via her Denver and Delilah Films banner, and later tapped Derrickson and Boardman. Theron and Beth Kono are producing via Denver and Delilah. Elbert Van Strien and Claudia Brandt are executive producing with Denver and Delilah's JJ Harris. Erik Fe

Michael Fassbender Is A 12 Years A Slave

Clearly looking to live up to their Scorsese/De Niro-level partnership, Hunger/Shame director Steve McQueen and regular star Michael Fassbender are re-teaming for a third time, as the actor has joined 12 Years a Slave . Co-written by McQueen and John Ridley, Slave will tell the true story of New Yorker Solomon Northrup ( Chiwetel Ejiofor ), who was kidnapped from Washington’s streets in 1841 and shipped off to become a forced labourer. He was eventually rescued from a cotton plantation in Louisiana in 1853. There’s no word yet on exactly who Fassbender will be playing, though we expect great – and, given the pair’s usual subject matter – controversial things. Shame , with its searing look at sex addition, has been nabbing strong buzz at various festivals, not least because of brutal performances by Fassbender and Carey Mulligan. It’s playing the London Film Festival this month and will hit general screens on January 13. Fassbender also has A Dangerous Method waiting for rel

Could This Be Prometheus Plot?

There have been all kinds of rumors about what exactly Ridley Scott's new sci-fi epic Prometheus is about. And now it seems like we may have an answer. io9 has received what is allegedly the official plotline of Prometheus, which Scott is directing now in London from a script by Lost guru Damon Lindelof . The site questions the authenticity of the synopsis, and it's actually pretty crappily written, but there's reason to believe that it could have at least some truth to it. Spoiler after the Jump... Earth. Year 2058. Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God's home-world, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster th

Curious to who will be make a speacial apperance and will we get to see some new footage? Please Leave A Comment-

Lost's Damon Lindelof Getting Paid!

In its latest attempt to hatch a large-scale film that can play to a family audience, Disney has made a seven-figure deal with screenwriter and Lost exec producer Damon Lindelof to write and produce an original large-scale science fiction feature film. Other than the fact that the project has a working title of 1952 , I couldn't pry plot details out of anybody. I'm not sure if the title connotes a period the film is set in, or if it is a Lost reference. I've also heard that this project isn't just being conceived for movies only, but that it has multiple platform aspirations. The project came out of a series of meetings that Lindelof had with Disney's production president Sean Bailey and senior exec Brigham Taylor, and it's the first film that Lindelof is producing from the ground up. Since ending the run of Lost and serving as one of the show's architects all the way through, Lindelof has been on fire as a screenwriter. He teamed with Alex Kurtzman an

Idris Elba Could Land Pacific Rim

Idris Elba 's fire just got a little hotter: Legendary Pictures is interested in the "Thor" and "28 Weeks Later" actor for Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi film " Pacific Rim ," Elba, who played Russell "Stringer" Bell in HBO's " The Wire " is generating huge interest lately. There's talk that he's in contention for the role of Django in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming "Django Unchained." The other actor most often named for the role: Will Smith. The del Toro film is a biggie. It stars Charlie Hunnam and is set in a future in which an alien attack threatens the existence of earth. Humans battle the nasty and brutal creatures by piloting giant robots. Elba is now filming " Prometheus " with Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron . His " Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance " is in postproduction at Columbia Pictures. In that movie, he stars with Nicolas Cage. Travis Beacham wrote the scre

Logan Marshall-Green Lands Lead Role In Prometheus

Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox have tapped Logan Marshall-Green to play a lead role in Prometheus , the science fiction film that Scott next directs. Marshall-Green will play the role of Holloway , a crewman on the space ship and the love interest for the character played by Noomi Rapace . Rapace, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star, was the first castmember set by Scott. Marshall-Green most recently was seen in Devil and Brooklyn's Finest , and did stints on The O.C. and 24. He's repped by 3 Arts and Gersh. This was a role that a lot of young actors chased, and who wouldn't want to be involved in Scott's first sci-fi foray since Alien and Blade Runner? The film also stars Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron, with Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie playing smaller roles. Shooting begins in March on a film that started as a prequel to Scott's seminal science fiction film Alien but morphed into something else. The original script was by Jonathan Spai

Noomi Rapace Talks "Prometheus"

The " Prometheus " cast is starting to fill out with acclaimed actors including Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba . But for many, it all starts with Noomi Rapace , the leading lady in Ridley Scott's hotly anticipated return to the science fiction genre. Currently best known for playing Lisbeth Salander in " The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ," Rapace is set for the role of scientist Elizabeth Shaw, the supposed protagonist of " Prometheus ." It's a daunting prospect for any actor who hopes to take the reins of an " Alien " spinoff from former leading lady Sigourney Weaver, but as Rapace explains it, the comparisons between Shaw and Ripley won't last for long. "She's definitely her own [character]," Rapace told us during a recent interview on the set of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," adding that "Prometheus" does indeed have connections to the "Alien" series. &q

David Slade To Direct Demeter

The Last Voyage of the Demeter may be getting ready to finally set sail. David Slade , who directed vampires in 30 Days of Night and Twilight Saga: Eclipse , is in talks to tackle the blood-sucking genre again with Phoenix Pictures' long-in-the-works period horror movie. The lead role is not cast but Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are attached to co-star. Phoenix is in active talks with actors for the lead role. Producing Demeter are Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer and Bradley Fischer, who have made habit of incubating and sticking with projects for lengthy periods. (Phoenix took almost as long to get Oscar best picture contender Black Swan made.) Demeter was the name of the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London in Bram Stoker's classic tale. In that novel, it washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor. Written a decade ago by Bragi Schut, the script places the voyage center stage in a tale that is remini

Charlize Theron Joins Noomi Rapace In Prometheus

Charlize Theron has inked a deal to star in " Prometheus " for Twentieth Century Fox. Theron joins previously-announced cast of Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender . Ridley Scott will direct and produce the project along with David Giler, Walter Hill and Tony Scott. Project was originally billed as an untitled "Aliens" prequel until Fox named the project "Prometheus" in January. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Variety

Michael Fassbender To Star Opposite Noomi Rapace In Prometheus

Michael Fassbender will star opposite Noomi Rapace in Prometheus , Fox's sci-fi project that was once an Alien prequel. Ridley Scott is directing the movie, which just shifted release dates, moving from a March 2012 berth to a high-profile summer release of June 8, 2012. Much of the story line is shrouded by secrecy, but Scott said the movie will have "Alien DNA." Fassbender is playing an android. Fassbender,  was one of the breakouts from Inglourious Basterds, booking several high-profile roles off that film, including that of Magneto in Fox's X-Men: First Class. He was offered the Prometheus role last year (when it was still the Alien prequel), with talks on and off throughout the fall. Fassbender also flirted with Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman, but now that he has booked Prometheus, that dance is over. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Alien Prequel Retitled Prometheus

The Alien prequel is dead and a new Ridley Scott project has been reborn. Fox has announced that instead of making a much-talked about Alien movie, the project has been reconfigured as an original sci-fi movie, titled Prometheus , with Scott still at the helm and with Noomi Rapace to star. Showing how serious it is about the movie, Fox has set a March 9, 2012 release date. Damon Lindelof is working together with Scott on the new script, which was originally written by Jon Spaihts and based on an idea by Scott. It was under Lindelof that the project morphed into something more original. “While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place,” said Scott in a statement. “The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the s
