All Superhero Movies to 2020

We have the final, final, final version of the list. Story by Matt Cummings With the sudden announcement of the Sony/Marvel Spider-man deal back in February , the entire Marvel calendar was upended, pushing titles back and others out of the way. We wrote about this back when the news broke , but it's clear that the situation hadn't exactly settled. The addition of 2016's Gambit hadn't yet been figured out, which caused yet another wave of bloggers to hit the UPDATE button on their old stories. But it doesn't end there. Other news - such as the lackluster performance of The Amazing Spider-man 2 which forced Sony to seek out a co-partner in Marvel in the first place - also changed Sony's plans regarding Drew Goddard's Sinister Six , effectively ending its development for the time being. Not one to be left out, the all-new DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe) is also vying for our hearts (and wallets), and with news on that front happening nearly ev

Kevin Feige Talks Ant-Man & Doctor Strange

Kevin Feige is the Captain of the good ship Marvel , steering a fleet of superheroes through sometimes choppy seas. But when he came into town this week to present some footage from Guardians Of The Galaxy , Empire cornered him for a podcast and asked about a couple of the studio's future films. Most importantly, we asked him about Edgar Wright's departure from Ant-Man , as well as what we can expect from Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange . First of all, what happened on Ant-Man? "We’ve been with Edgar for eight years. The disappointing thing for me is not being able to make a movie with him, right now; it’s just the personal relationship. It was amicable and we sat in a room together and said this isn’t working. I just wish I or he had figured that out somewhere in the eight years leading up to it. "Well, it’s not worth, right now, going into [what the disagreements were] in super-specifics. I wish it wasn’t as late in the day as it was, but it just had b

Potential Directors For Ant-Man Film

Marvel Studios is moving fast to make good on its promise to keep its July 17, 2015, release date for Ant-Man . Sources say Rawson Marshall Thurber, Adam McKay and Ruben Fleischer are among a group of directors that are meeting with the studio to replace Edgar Wright , who abruptly exited the long-gestating project last week over creative differences. The shortlisting of this trio offers a glimpse into the mind-set of Marvel president Kevin Feige as he looks to fill the hole left by Wright, a favorite among the fanboy community. Thurber (We're the Millers, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and McKay (the Anchorman movies) are known for their bawdy comedies. Fleischer , whose credits include Zombieland and Gangster Squad, has moved deftly between genres with comedic elements. Wright, a Brit with a more quirky sensibility, clashed with Marvel over the tone of the film. McKay would appear to have an edge given that he has worked with Ant-Man star Paul Rudd before, on the A

Edgar Wright Drops Out of Marvel's 'Ant-Man'

Here's why fans shouldn't be surprised by the news. For the better part of two years, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have learned about the dance surrounding Director Edgar Wright's Ant-Man , a project at least a decade in the making. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has supported the unique nature of the project, stating emphatically that it's been Wright's force of will that's kept the project going. That is, until now. According to a statement released by Marvel Studios, Wright has departed the project. The statement, released on Friday - gives the standard "differences in their vision of the film" as the reason, but also tries to assure the reader that its July 17, 2015 release date is unaffected by the change. Good luck with that. While Marvel has become the most successful studio in recent memory, it has had its significant share of issues in keeping directors around through sequels. The list starts with Jon

The Original Avengers vs. The New Avengers By:Jonathan Cyfer

The Original Avengers vs. The New Avengers By:Jonathan Cyfer The Avengers is a unique superhero team because, from the very beginning, they were never meant to have a permanent roster. If you recall the comic book origin from way back in 1963, The evil Loki , half-brother to the heroic Thunder God, was planning a trap for Thor by tricking the powerful but hapless Hulk into destroying a railroad trestle. At the last second, the Hulk was able to save the train, including passengers and crew, from falling into a canyon, but it was too late to keep him from being branded a "killer". Loki was hoping to trick Thor into going after the Hulk, then springing whatever trap he had in mind, but he goofed. When he diverted a radio message about the Hulk's attack that was intended for the Fantastic Four , so that it could be heard on an ordinary radio in the office of Dr. Don Blake (Thor's alter ego), he didn't count on it also being picked up by Tony Stark (

Edgar Wright's Next Project An Ant-Man Film?

Edgar Wright's Next Project An Ant-Man Film? I am not sure if any of you out there have heard of this character. I am with you guys, I have heard of Ant-Man and seen it in a cartoon film once but that is pretty much it. But comic book properties are a huge thing now and everyone wants a piece of the pie. Marvel's president Kevin Feige gave us some updated  information on the Ant-Man project such as when the production will start moving forward. Edgar was in L.A. last week, we sat down, and we started working on a calendar of when to get him back into it once he finishes promoting ' Scott Pilgrim ,' so I think towards the end of this year, early next year we'd start looking at early prep for that, but certainly for a release date after The Avengers. Here is the Ant-Man origin story: Early Life: Scott Lang was born in Coral Gables, Florida. He turned to burglary when his occupation as an electronics expert failed to support his family. Apprehended, he served

Disney Going To Dig Deep Into Marvel's Vault

Disney Going To Dig Deep Into Marvel's Vault Moviegoers have shown a willingness to be entangled by Spider-Man's web over and over again. Now, as Disney prepares to buy the comic-book powerhouse Marvel, it faces the question of whether fans will also get attached to characters as obscure as Ant-Man and Iron Fist. The Walt Disney Co. is making a $4.2 billion bet that they will as it nears completion of its acquisition of Marvel Entertainment this week. The cash-and-stock deal brings those characters and thousands of others to an entertainment empire that already includes Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog and Hannah Montana. Disney's biggest challenge will be to get enough people enthused about second-string superheroes to justify the price -- about $1.2 billion, or 40%, more than what Marvel's stock was worth when the deal was announced Aug. 31. The high price means Disney will have to find new ways to earn revenue from Marvel -- perhaps by bringing Marvel-licensed toys to m
