J.J. Abrams To Direct Next Star Wars Film

TheWrap is reporting that J.J. Abrams will direct the next " Star Wars " film for Disney, taking stewardship of one of Hollywood's most iconic and lucrative film franchises, an individual with knowledge of the production. " Argo " director Ben Affleck was also in contention, another individual with knowledge of the talks. Ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm last year and announced it would make new "Star Wars" films, fans, members of the media and industry executives have speculated about which director would take the job. Abrams' name always came up, but he told Entertainment Weekly in November that he wasn't going to take the job. He did say "Star Wars" was the first movie that "blew my mind" in terms of special effects. Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy has been courting Abrams, one of the most successful directors and producers in Hollywood -- and a man beloved by fanboys. He runs one of the industry's top

Chloe Moretz Could Stay

It seems somehow weirdly fitting that the adaptation of Gayle Forman’s life-or-death limbo choice romantic novel If I Stay has been spending lots of time hovering between production and development purgatory. Now it appears to be moving towards the light again – a green light, that is, with news that Chloe Moretz is attached to star and RJ Cutler is in talks to direct. The plot follows 17-year-old Mia, a gifted classical musician with an indie rocker boyfriend. One cold February morning, she and her family are involved in a car accident that leaves her drifting between life and death, and facing a hard choice: give in to her injuries, or fight to return to the love she knows. Foreman’s book first hit the Holly-radar back in 2009, when Catherine Hardwicke signed on to direct it for Summit, which had the rights. We thought it was a surprising move, as it came after the studio had decided not to have her make the Twilight sequel despite delivering a big hit the first time around.

Top Gun 3D Trailer Is Here. Feel The Need For Speed

If you've got a hot cup of coffee in your hand, now might be a good time to put it down because this man is requesting permission to fly by. Yes, there's a new Top Gun 3D trailer in town. No-one should need the plot explaining at this point, which is fortunate because there really isn't one. Suffice to say, hot-shot Tomcat pilot Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell - played by future half of an actual TomKat, Tom Cruise - has some daddy issues, a chip on his shoulder and talent to burn. Twenty-seven years on (gulp) from his first big-screen appearance and his ego is still writing cheques his body can't cash. Although obviously these days it'd be more of a chip-and-pin scenario. For all its kitsch joys and over-the-top beats, Tony Scott's airborne actioner divides people, but Top Gun on IMAX? We're in. Seriously, it isn't every day you get to see Michael Ironside's head in 70mm. Please Leave A Comment-

Mario Bello Joins Frank Grillo In House Of Horror

It’s been a few years since Mario Bello did a true horror movie – and yes, we’re including Grown Ups – but it appears she’s ready to dive into some supernatural chills once more. She’s signed on to a new, James Wan-produced thriller alongside The Grey’s Frank Grillo . The film – which was called House Of Horror , but is currently making its way through pre-production without a final title – will see a psychologist ( Bello , we assume, since she’s credited as Dr Elizabeth Klein) and a cop ( Grillo ) interrogate the lone survivor of a ghost hunting expedition that went horribly wrong. While the normal result of such trips is a bunch of overly dramatic people getting scared by “ghostly” noises on a tape recorder or flickering dials on a temperature gauge, this one ended with five people dead and a real mystery to solve. Wan, who is no stranger to horror himself after his work on the Saw franchise, came up with the concept but handed it to Max La Bella to write and Will Canon t
