Tom Cruise Eyed For "Highlander" Reboot

Summit’s attempt to mount a new version of 1986’s action fantasy Highlander has been through the development wringer, with multiple script drafts and several directors attached before dropping off. The studio is hoping to give the film a kick up the casting chain, eyeing Tom Cruise to take over the mentor role originally played by Sean Connery . Don’t expect to see Cruise practising a Scots brogue any time soon, though: according to The Wrap’s sources, this is still merely wishful thinking on Summit’s part, and Cruise is the sort of big name that everyone approaches first anyway. Still, it could be an interesting development if he decides he’s up for it, guiding whoever takes over as main man Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert in the original films) through his battle to become the lone immortal stalking the Earth. Or whatever variant on the story current director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan has come up with from the script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Melissa Rosenberg. Cruise h

Director Mike Nichols Has Passed

Mike Nichols , the stage director and Oscar-winning filmmaker behind The Graduate , has died. He was 83. It’s a film that has grown with age, earning a place in the movie pantheon as a zeitgeist-capturing snapshot of late ‘60s America. Born Mikhail Igor Peschkowsky in Weimar Berlin, the son of a Russian Jewish doctor, Nichols escaped the Nazis in 1938 with his younger brother. Reunited with his family in New York – and with an Americanised surname – the newly naturalised Nichols went on to study at the University of Chicago. It was there that he discovered a passion for the dramatic arts. Rather than following his father’s footsteps into medicine, he turned to the theatre, adapting August Strind

At least she had a car to take. Carol drove long, without looking back, and found a quiet place to shed some tears. A walker bangs on her window, and Carol is not in the mood to deal with it, so she just drives off as it shambles after her. She reaches another town, and heads inside a law office.
