BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

TV Review: Justified “Restitution” By: Brandon Wolfe

TV Review: Justified “Restitution” By: Brandon Wolfe The fifth season of ‘ Justified ’, as I’ve mentioned several times before but can only say with true certainty now, was not quite up to snuff. The show kept many, many plates spinning from week to week, yet there never came the sense that anything truly mattered or was coalescing into a greater whole. Ultimately, in spite of the busyness of the storylines, there simply wasn’t much that felt new or impactful the way previous years had. And watching the season finale, “Restitution”, one can’t help but notice, as it puts the final bow on the year, how little there was to show for it all at the buzzer. Raylan is still playing out his questionable gambit of letting young Kendal Crowe’s life and future dangle as a method of coercion to get his uncle, Darryl Crowe Jr., to come forward and admit he was the one who shot Art. Raylan hopes the boy will recant his story upon news that he will be tried as an adult for the crime, and even atte

TV Review: Crisis “We Were Supposed to Help Each Other”

TV Review: Crisis “We Were Supposed to Help Each Other” By: Brandon Wolfe ‘ Crisis ’ continues to be a complete failure at everything it attempts to do. It’s a thriller that isn’t thrilling, involving characters we do not care about in a story that doesn’t seem worth the telling. The show moves with a constant urgency that exists only onscreen, not in the viewer. It’s biting its own nails while we at home are stifling yawns. Kidnapping ringmaster Francis Gibson is using more powerful parents as tools to do his bidding. This week, he’s enlisted Congressman Langston Wirth, his wife Marie, and Senator Mason Yarrow in a plan to wrest information from the CIA headquarters in Langley in exchange for their children’s freedom. Using their high-level government access, the parents are able to get their hands on a highly classified flash drive from within the CIA vault and, using the threat of a phony bomb vest, get it outside to be transmitted via cell phone, a process that costs th

Drew Goddard To Write & Direct Sinister Six Film

Drew Goddard also is writing the film, which will focus on the villains of the Spider-Man universe. The Cabin in the Woods helmer Drew Goddard is nearing a deal to direct Sinister Six , the Spider-Man spinoff that he's also writing. Goddard, who worked with Kurtzman, Orci and Jeff Pinkner on TV’s  Alias , was one of the saviors of  World War Z  after that movie ran into third act trouble. He wrote and made his directorial debut with the 2012 horror film  The Cabin in the Woods , and will write and executive produce Netflix's  Daredevil . In December, Sony hired Goddard to pen the script for the film, which will focus on the villains in Spider-Man's world. In an effort to expand the Spider-Man universe, Sony in December also hired Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci , and Ed Solomon to work on another spinoff, titled Venom , centered on the black-costumed villain that already made his big-screen debut in the third Spider-Man movie of the Sam Raimi trilogy. Kurtzman will d

Teaser Posters For #TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles

The first teaser trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles debuted last month to what could be called a mixed reaction. While the promo certainly made the film appear chock full of action, the main issue for concern was the facial features of Leo, Donny, Mikey and Raph, AKA Our Heroes In A Half Shell* That’s neatly side-stepped by these new teaser posters, which focus instead on the weapons gripped by each turtle. Though it seems some liberties have been taken with the story (especially around who is responsible for the ooze that mutates the turtles in the first place), the basics are here, with Megan Fox as ace reporter April O’Neil, William Fichtner as one of the villains (possibly the least Japanese-seeming Shredder ever, but it’s Fichtner, so he’ll be interesting), and our four main heroes, with performance capture via Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher . The voices of the turtles seems to be in flux, with Johnny Knoxville voicing Leonardo and To

Karate Kid 2 Is On It's Way

Sony Pictures has locked Breck Eisner to direct Karate Kid 2 , the sequel that will bring back Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan . Harald Zwart directed the 2010 original, which grossed $56 million on its opening weekend and ended with $343 million worldwide. Eisner, most recently directed the gritty horror film The Crazies . It is an important film for the studio that has placed a premium in the care and feeding of franchises with global appeal. The original 1984 Karate Kid is a beloved film, but let’s face it, that crane deal at the end would never have worked, and this kid is way more believable as a martial artist.
