BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Ball Headed Matt Damon In "Elysium" Image

It'll be part of Sony's presentation at ComicCon in a couple of weeks, but we still know admirably little about Neill Blomkamp's Elysium . There was some viral activity a year or so ago, at which point we confidently predicted a constant drip of further information. Nope. Aside from a bit of plot synopsis from a test screening, we're still pretty much in the dark, but the first spark of enlightenment has just arrived courtesy of EW . Here's a look at a shaven-headed Matt Damon , wielding a very big gun of some sort. Is CHEMRAIL the new OCP? Is that a bionic arm? No idea. Elysium is, of course, Blomkamp's long-awaited follow-up to District 9. Set in the year 2159, it's about the oppressed people of the ruined planet Earth versus the privileged elite aboard the Elysium space station, and what happens when the terrans fight for equality. Damon is ex-convict man-on-a-mission Max, and Jodie Foster is the dastardly government official intent on enforcin

PEOPLE LIKE US Review

PEOPLE LIKE US Review By: RAMA Let's find out what RAMA thought of this film. A somewhat sentimental but effective drama for siblings everywhere. Well-acted, well-scripted, I think Alex Kurtzman’s feature directorial debut is off to a feel-good start. Chris Pine once again, just like he did in Star Trek, shows those effortless skills of his, everything about that man screams movie star, and Elizabeth Banks proves that this is her finest hour, both Pine and Banks to me are fairly new, we’ve seen their previous works, they’ve been around, mostly in supporting roles, but as lead stars, they’re slowly but surely showcasing what they’ve got and PEOPLE LIKE US gives them the opportunity to shine the brightest. This is where their dramatic chops are put to the test… From DreamWorks Pictures comes “People Like Us,” a drama/comedy about family, inspired by true events, starring Chris Pine (“Star Trek”) as Sam, a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, whose latest deal collapses

Marvel's Item 47 Explained

We all knew there was going to be a short film attached to Marvel's Avengers Blu-ray . We knew it was going to be awesome. Now we know just how awesome. So—what is Item 47 about, who is in it, and what does it mean for the future of the Marvel movie franchise? Starring Lizzy Caplan (True Blood, Party Down, The Class), Item 47 gives us an idea of just how different the world is after the events of Marvel's Avengers. Superheroes are in the limelight, an alien invasion was barely thwarted, and your average Joe or Jane is left to wonder, "Am I safe?" and "What happens next?" A modern-day Bonnie and Clyde story, Item 47 tells the story of Benny and Claire (get it?), who find an alien gun and use it to ill purpose. Marvel Studios co-president Louis D'Esposito explains saying, "So when this gun literally fell into their lap, this is a sign: We're going to rob a few banks, we're going to buy a boat, we're going to the Caribbean, and all o

Marvel Comics Answer To DC's "The New 52" Is "Marvel NOW"

Marvel Comics is embroiled in Avengers vs. X-Men , a crossover event which follows an all-out war between the publisher’s iconic superteams. When Avengers vs. X-Men reaches its conclusion, the stage will be set for a massive restructuring of the Marvel Universe. “It’s not hype when we say that AvX is the culmination of a lot of stories we’ve done over the last several years,” says Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. “Characters are redeemed or not. Characters are changed. The X-Men and the Avengers are both repositioned for the future. What better time to shake things up? “ And Marvel is shaking things up. Entertainment Weekly is excited to exclusively announce Marvel NOW !, a massive new initiative that will launch new titles and relaunch old ones starting in October. Some of the company’s top storytellers are leaping from one corner of the Marvel Universe to another. Brian Michael Bendis is leaving the Avengers for a new X-Men book; Jonathan Hickman will end his run on Fantastic

The Amazing Spider-Man Review

The Amazing Spider-Man Review By: MattInRC Does The Amazing Spider-Man usher in an exciting new chapter in the franchise or signal yet another reboot?  Warning: major plot spoilers ahead. I have joined millions of moviegoers in condemning the horrid Spider-Man 3 , a film that put the once-proud franchise into a coma with a single dance scene. But there were more issues to that film than just the sidestepping: the product felt tired and bereft of imagination, as if our hero needed a partner or a major shakeup. Throwing too many substandard enemies at one hero never solved anything, but that's exactly what we got. Something needed to change, but was a reboot really necessary? That was Sony's call; and so five years after Tobey Maguire and company were shown the door, the lights dim for The Amazing Spider-Man. Does Sony make it up to fans with a new high-flying adventure, or should we expect yet another reboot in about five years? Sadly, The Amazing Spider-Man is

The Hobbit Exclusive Photo

Peter Jackson's The Hobbit gets a public unveiling at Comic-Con this month. Ahead of the shindig, EW has revealed new shots of Gandalf ( Ian McKellen ), Bilbo ( Martin Freeman ) and dwarves Fili, Kili, Dori and Nori, among others, embarking on their epic quest across Middle-earth. Troll readers be warned. The Hobbit is also an origin story for Glamdring, Foe-hammer, Gandalf's two-handed sword. Here it is in all its troll, orc and goblin smiting glory. Interestingly, there's also glimpses of Galadriel amongst EW's pictures. She has been recruited from the pages of Lord Of The Rings and encorporated into The Hobbit's storyline. Any excuse to watch Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving as Elrond is alright by us, so Jackson's promise that "it will all make sense" should keep purists at bay. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

Kenny Powers Will Return. Eastbound & Down Season 4 On The Way

America, are you ready for more Kenny Powers ? HBO has ordered eight more episodes of the cult fave Eastbound & Down that stars Danny McBride , EW has confirmed. That’s an abrupt about-face from what the actor and his producing partners — Jody Hill, Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy and Adam McKay — were saying earlier this year, when the show finished its spring run. “HBO definitely wants us, and [co-creator] Jody Hill and I love writing for the show,” McBride told EW earlier this year. “But there is other stuff we’d like to do. Both of us are ready to make jokes concerning people who don’t have strange haircuts.” Obviously, HBO managed to persuade the boys that Powers needs to stage a comeback. The third season wrapped with the Major League pitcher appearing to be dead — until he showed up at the doorstep of April Buchanon, played by Katy Mixon. Needless to say, he’ll have some ‘splaining to do when the show returns for its fourth year. Please Leave A Comment- Source- EW
