Bryan Buckley returns to features on the Reese Witherspoon vehicle Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus at Lionsgate Summit. The film is based on the John Gray self-help title, a guide to relationships and marriage that is the best selling non-fiction hardcover book of all-time (excepting the Bible and Koran) with over 7 million copies in circulation. Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont have written the script and Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun are set to produce with Andrew Mittman co-producing and Meredith Milton overseeing for Summit. Plan is to shoot the film in January. While Buckley has stuck mostly to commercials, you’ve likely seen his work. Called “King of the Super Bowl,” he has directed over 40 spots for the annual NFL title game. In the process, he has won 37 Cannes Lions, and gotten 6 Emmy nominations. The first teaser trailer for the new sci-fi action flick The Prototype has been released—showing off a humanoid cyborg you do not want to mess with. So what happens when it goes rogue? The film, from Act of Valor creators the Bandito Brothers , follows a humanoid combat drone that gets loose, and the manhunt that ensues. Plus, there appear to be some conspiratorial undertones to boot. The effects look stellar, and the heads-up display (HUD) for the robot looks awesome. Hitting Twitter to break the news (which was then picked up by Collider ), Rodriguez wrote,  “I just cast Charlie Sheen in Machete Kills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon…” along with a picture of himself with Sheen. Which just goes to show that there's no such thing as unemployable in Hollywood if you're sufficiently high-profile (see also: Mel Gibson , who is among the Machete sequel’s cast). Machinma delivers the first full trailer for DREDD . The cast consists of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd and Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson . Dredd is due to be released on 21 September 2012 Dredd takes place on a fictional Earth created as a result of the Atomic Wars. Survivors of this period are living in Mega-Cities, which protects its citizens from the Cursed Earth, a radioactive desert environment populated by mutants. The main story takes place in Mega-City One, where the police who are now called judges have the power to use police brutality to some extent to fight extreme murders. One man, Judge Dredd ( Karl Urban ), a senior law enforcement officer, teams up with a cadet called Judge Anderson ( Olivia Thirlby ) to track down a terrorist organization lead by Ma-Ma ( Lena Headey ), who is responsible for selling a reality-altering drug called Slo-Mo. The world of historical fiction has been the subject of many classic novels, which use real historical time periods but fictional characters and situations to tell its story. In those worlds, reality is skewed just enough to make its existence in the real timeline plausible. Novels like Horatio Hornblower, I Claudius, and Patrick O'Brien'sMaster and Commander series were all eventually made into movies that experienced varying levels of success.
