Even if you've never heard of Captain Atom and the Blue Beetle , trust us, you've heard of Captain Atom and the Blue Beetle. Top Gun Sequel To Be Written By X-Men: First Class Scribes

It’s been a while since any news about a possible Top Gun sequel hit our news radar, but now it looks like there has finally been a solid development as X-Men: First Class contributors Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to work on a script for the film. And this is music to my ears. Last we heard, Tony Scott was definitely involved and has been driving the development in the direction of today’s airborne tech, with a focus on the pilots who fly drones and other vehicles via high-tech equipment. We doubt that’ll be the total focus (there’s not as much danger zone involved when the plane doesn’t have an actual pilot to get shot down), but now it’ll be Miller and Stentz’s job to find the drama. Top Gun 3D Flying Into Theaters In 2012 There’s no clear word on what that will actually be, but given that Christopher McQuarrie reportedly came up with some story ideas, they should at least have a firm basis from which to start. It now remains to be seen when (or even if)

Geoff Johns Wants A Green Lantern Sequel

Geoff Johns , chief creative officer at DC Entertainment , a unit of Time Warner's Warner Bros., expressed hope here Friday that there will be another Green Lantern film.

Speaking on a panel at New York Comic Con, he said: "There is the hope that we will eventually see one."
The Warner Bros. film that focused on the superhero earlier this year was seen as a box office disappointment. Johns at some point during Friday's panel said about this summer's Green Lantern film that "obviously, you want it to be as big as Titanic." But he added: "I hope that the character gets another film, and it will be live-action again - I guarantee." TW chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes said previously that this summer's release, featuring Ryan Reynolds , "did not live up to expectations - fell fairly far short of those." A decision on a potential sequel would come "in due course," Bewkes also said.  Warner Bros. was not giving up on a se

Bridesmaids Melissa McCarthy To Star In "Tammy"

New Line has preemptively acquired Melissa McCarthy’s script Tammy , a raunchy comedy that the Emmy winner co-wrote and will executive produce. McCarthy could also star in the road trip pic. The project centers on an overweight woman who is laid off from her job at Hardee’s, discovers her husband is having an affair, and decides to go on a road trip with her alcoholic, foul-mouthed, diabetic grandmother. The script is based on a character created by McCarthy . “It’s about these two women who are not where they thought they would be, and then they kind of band together,” McCarthy told The Hollywood Reporter of the project last month. “It’s just my perfect tone. It’s so funny, and it also kind of breaks my heart.” The news comes some six months after McCarthy’s breakout performance in Universal’s Bridesmaids. In the months since, the comedienne-actress has hosted a highly-rated episode of Saturday Night Live, won an Emmy for CBS’ Mike & Molly and sold a comedy project abou
