Matterhorn Ride Being Developed Into A Film

Disney is developing an adventure movie project inspired by the Matterhorn ride and has set Jason Dean Hall to pen the script. Justin Springer (Tron Legacy, Prom) is producing the project, which has a working title of The Hill . The Matterhorn , also known as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, is part of Disneyland’s Fantasyland section. Opened June 1959, the elaborate ride was inspired by Walt Disney's desire for a toboggan-themed roller coaster as well as thoughts he had after an extended trip to Switzerland, the site of the famed mountain. The ride, a centerpiece of the park, was refurbished in 1978, with one of the upgrades being the addition of three automatronic Abominable Snowmen (aka Yetis) who growl at riders. The idea behind The Hill is to do a thrilling, fast-paced movie centering on five young adventure seekers who, for mysterious reasons, are called to the top of the mountain and encounter a Yetis on the journey down. Adapting Disney rides into film franchises is a pri

Bridesmaids To Surpass Knocked Up At The BoxOffice

With hits like The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Superbad , producer-director Judd Apatow has spent the past decade as Hollywood's king of guy humor. But the Apatow-produced, female-driven comedy Bridesmaids is on track to pass Knocked Up on Wednesday night as the highest-grossing domestic movie of Apatow's career. That’s not all. Projections show that by Sunday or Monday, Universal's Bridesmaids -- directed by Paul Feig -- will supplant Sex and the City as the top R-rated female comedy of all time domestically. Through Tuesday, Bridesmaids ' North America gross was $148.1 million, just behind Knocked Up , which cumed $148.8 million in 2007, and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby , which earned $148.2 million domestically in 2006. Barring unforeseen interference from the Transformers sequel, Bridesmaids should pass both those movies Wednesday night. Apatow directed and produced Knocked Up and produced Talladega Nights. Both were bigger hits overs

Terra Nova Is Coming To Comic-Con

Terra Nova is Coming To Comic-Con 2011 and we have video to prove it. In the video, we get a quick mash up of footage from the series and scenes from the annual event as some kind of creature makes its way through the crowd. The show begins in the year 2149, a time when all life on planet Earth is threatened with extinction (suggested in trailers to be due to dwindling worldwide air quality). In an effort to save the human race, scientists develop a portal allowing travel 85 million years back in time to prehistoric Earth. The Shannon family (father Jim, his wife Elisabeth, and their three children Josh, Maddy and Zoe) join the tenth pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first human colony on the other side of the temporal doorway. However, they are unaware that the colony is in the middle of a group of carnivorous dinosaurs. The series is currently scheduled to hit the event Saturday, July 23 with a screening of the pilot episode and a panel with star Stephen Lang and ex

Chris Hemsworth Attached Shadow Runner

Sony is the latest studio to jump into the black ops game, picking up Shadow Runner , an original thriller with Chris Hemsworth attached to star. Plot details are being kept secret although it is known it involves elite commandos. The project is based on an original idea from Hossein Amini, who is one of the writers of Snow White and the Huntsman , which also stars Hemsworth. Hemsworth is best known for his star-turning performance as Thor, a character he will reprise in next summer’s The Avengers. He worked with Vinson and Flynn on the duo’s remake of Red Dawn. Transformers: Dark of the Moon Movie Review By: SandwichJohn

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Movie Review By: SandwichJohn Where to start with this movie. How about here. I am just one person and this is my opinion. I don't think of myself as a movie critic but just someone who loves movies. Maybe I am just not smart enough to follow this movie, it was a hot mess. An Autobot ship crashed on the Dark side of the moon, Megatron comes out of hiding and wants to restart the War. Are you still with me, something about teleportation and wanting to turn all of us into slaves. Here we go with the negative. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the summer movie you would expect from Michael Bay, a ton of action and explosions. But we don't actually get that until the second act of the film. We did get to see some new characters in the film (that were underdeveloped) and characters that really had no point being in the film. Yes, they got rid of the two clowns from the second film, but don't fear they have two more Jar Jar Binks in this m

MoviePass Is Netflix Style To Big Screen

MoviePass , a new $50-per-month service for film fans, will let subscribers watch unlimited movies in theaters using their smartphones as tickets. Using an HTML5 application (native smartphone apps coming soon), MoviePass will let users search for a film, find a local show time, check in to the theater and go straight to the ticket-taker. The all-you-can-watch service, announced Monday with a private beta starting in the San Francisco Bay Area just in time for the Fourth of July blockbuster weekend, is looking to shake up the theater business in much the same way Netflix has changed the DVD-rental game. “Even with online ticketing, this side of the business is still a 75-year-old business and there’s not a lot of innovation,” MoviePass co-founder Stacy Spikes said in an interview with Wired.com. “Getting your tickets, how you do that, how you interact with the theater, how you interact with the studio, none of that has really changed. We’re giving the viewer a lot more power and
