BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Jeremy Renner To Star In "Slingshot"

Because he clearly doesn’t already have enough on his plate, Jeremy Renner seems intent on keeping the work flowing by setting up Slingshot, a rally racing sports drama at Paramount that he’ll star in and produce. Slingshot will be based on the true story of Bill Caswell, who ditched a lucrative job as a finance banker, bought a $500 BMW car from Craigslist, souped it up for rally competition and went up against professional teams in the World Rally Championships in Mexico in 1991. Given the enormous challenges ahead of him, he won great acclaim by placing third in the final race. Don Handfield, Renner’s partner in his new production company, has written the script, which doesn’t yet have a director attached. It’s the second project announced by the pair, who already have a Renner-headed Steve McQueen biopic in development with James Gray writing the screenplay. You’ve got to give the man some credit for striking while the iron of his career is white hot. Renner’s got Mission

Al Pacino Joins The Humbling

Before Al Pacino and director Barry Levinson re-team for Gotti: Three Generations , the duo will first reunite on an adaptation of the Philip Roth novel The Humbling , which has been set for a fall start and will be financed by Avi Lerner's Millennium Films/Nu Image. It is just the latest in a period of extreme productivity for Levinson, some of it directly attributable to the acclaim he got for directing Pacino's Emmy-winning turn as Jack Kevorkian in HBO's You Don't Know Jack. The Humbling revolves around Simon Axler ( Pacino ), a famous stage actor in decline who is revived when he retires to his upstate New York farmhouse and takes up with a much younger woman. It has a script by Buck Henry, Michal Zebede and Levinson. Levinson will be looking to quickly cast the young female lead, the actor's agent, and several other eccentric characters you would expect in a Roth novel. Levinson committed to this movie after completing production on the low-budget eco-horr

Lost's Damon Lindelof Getting Paid!

In its latest attempt to hatch a large-scale film that can play to a family audience, Disney has made a seven-figure deal with screenwriter and Lost exec producer Damon Lindelof to write and produce an original large-scale science fiction feature film. Other than the fact that the project has a working title of 1952 , I couldn't pry plot details out of anybody. I'm not sure if the title connotes a period the film is set in, or if it is a Lost reference. I've also heard that this project isn't just being conceived for movies only, but that it has multiple platform aspirations. The project came out of a series of meetings that Lindelof had with Disney's production president Sean Bailey and senior exec Brigham Taylor, and it's the first film that Lindelof is producing from the ground up. Since ending the run of Lost and serving as one of the show's architects all the way through, Lindelof has been on fire as a screenwriter. He teamed with Alex Kurtzman an
