I am not sure he’s going to say yes, but Jim Carrey is being courted by Universal to play a showy supporting role in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall , the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s crazy superhero movie. The character is called The Colonel , and he helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil. The sequel brings back Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicolas Cage . Carrey is a big fan of Matthew Vaughn and his original Kick-Ass film. Here, he wore the Kick-Ass costume for a musical duet with a bearded Conan O’Brien. But dealmaking is dealmaking, and this is far from a sure thing, at this point just a great idea. As director Jeff Wadlow gets ready to roll the cameras on Kick-Ass 2 , he’s filling in some of the smaller roles. Just today, two actors have been added to the line-up, with Morris Chestnut and Robert Emms jumping aboard. Chestnut , who was last seen in Think Like A Man , is on to play Hit-Girl ( Chloe Moretz )’s guardian, who takes over caring for her in the wake of Big Daddy ( Nicolas Cage )’s death in the last movie. Hit-Girl in the sequel initially opts to retire from her life of ass kicking, but soon gets back in the game. Emms , meanwhile, will be Insect Man, a part of a league known as Justice Forever, and a former cop who fights crime after being disillusioned by the corruption and lack of competence of the force. The Trailer has a Road Warrior feel to it.I don't think that Denzel has had a role where he was an Action star,other then Man on Fire. And you can not go wrong with any movie also starring Gary Oldman (True Romance- Classic Role).He is such a versatile actor and one of the best. "Kick-Ass" Director Matthew Vaughn Wants To Get His Hands On "Sandman" Matthew Vaughn's in a unique position with some of comics' most popular talents. That's why when he talks ideas for future projects, fans listen. In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Vaughn spoke openly on his appreciation of realistic comics, praising both his "Kick-Ass" and "Stardust" collaborators and stating that Gaiman deserves to have more of his work translated to film. "I think it's weird that hardly any Neil Gaiman stuff has been made. The idea that no one has made 'Sandman' yet is weird," said Vaughn. The Sandman's main character is Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, who is essentially the anthropomorphic personification of dreams. Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class writer/director/producer Matthew Vaughn tells me that a major Hollywood studio is very keen to fully fund his next big project: The Golden Age about a retirement home where superheroes end up. And the title is also a reference to early comic books of the 1930s when Superman and Batman first appeared. It's based on the yet-to-be-published comic book written by Brit TV chat show host Jonathan Ross, who’s a huge comics buff. Vaughn is currently in LA editing X-Men: First Class for Fox, but tells me he wants to get actors attached to the new project before the script is written. His wish list is Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty to play the retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parent screw up the world. Mark Millar , whose comic books were the basis for this franchise is uncertain about the possibility of the third installment.. “With “ Kick-Ass ,” it was a no brainer. It was made for $28 million and made $100 million back and then made another $140 million on DVD. So for the money guys, it was a $28 million investment that made $240 million. That’s a slam dunk. You’re getting your sequel. The second one didn’t make as much. It cost a little less at around $24 million, made $61 million and made about $100 million again on DVD and TV rights. It was still profitable. It was by no means “ The Lone Ranger .” But does that mean we’ll make another one again? I don’t know. It’s definitely up in the air, and we’ll just have to see. Matthew is a guy who I trust to make that decision. If he decides he does want to do it, I know he’ll get it done well. And he’s got the movie rights, so it’s ultimately his decision. Universal Pictures is in talks to make Kick-Ass 2 , with Jeff Wadlow directing his script. I’m told the intention is to get the film in production by August. Discussions are just getting underway with such original castmembers as Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse , and they will have to be signed to new deals to reprise their roles. The raucous 2010 film was directed by Matthew Vaughn; it was made for $28 million and grossed $48.1 million domestic and $103 million worldwide. The original was released by Lionsgate but became a free ball controlled by Vaughn. He can’t direct the sequel because of his commitments to his X-Men: First Class follow-up, but he is backing it and is fully supportive of handing over the reins.
