Looks like Michael Bay is adding another Autobot from the sprawling roster of Robots In Disguise to Transformers: The Last Knight . And to be honest, it's one we thought he'd have included long before now: Hot Rod . As his description in the image above shows, Hot Rod will have his usual brash personality, and that he'll be supporting Bumblebee, which makes sense. We don't yet know what his vehicle form will be, but if we had to guess, we'd take a shot at some custom concept car. The Last Knight will bring together Age Of Extinction's Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg ) with previous film veterans Lennox ( Josh Duhamel ) and Epps ( Tyrese Gibson ) and new humans Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Laura Haddock and Anthony Hopkins . Eyebrows cantilevered higher than some bridges (with cars leaping over the gap) when Helen Mirren revealed that she would be part of the cast for the latest Fast & Furious outing. But she wasn't kidding, and now Vin Diesel has taken to Instagram with a picture of his Dominic Toretto and Mirren's mysterious character. It’s not a still from the movie, or even an professionally photographed snap from the publicity department, but it gives us a good idea of what the billion-dollar franchise now looks like in its post-Paul Walker era. Regardless of whether it ends up being called Fast 8, Furious 8 or, in a moment of utter titling madness, &8, the next Fast & Furious film is now shooting. Back in January, Vin Diesel did his usual social media promotion duty and put up the first poster from the eighth Fast & Furious film online, which listed it as Fast 8 . He's back with the new image, which appears to switch the title to Furious 8, while also making us wonder if they're just unveiling the full title word by word... We suppose it makes sense to follow the naming standard set by the seventh film, but it does rather crush our dream of future movies simply taking bits of the title and using them (And 9, anyone?) Regardless, Furious 8 (or whatever it ends up being known as over here) has F. Gary Gray directing Vin and the returning regulars (including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Dwayne Johnson) facing off against new villain Charlize Theron in a story that remains a mystery to be discovered a quarter mile at a time. We do know that Kurt Russell's mysterious Mr. Nobody will be back, bringing protege Scott Eastwood along for the ride.

Variety is reporting Scott Eastwood has joined the ensemble of “ Fast 8 ,” the next installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. Eastwood joins Charlize Theron , who will portray a new antagonist. The latest installment begins production this summer with a planned April 14, 2017, release. Though she had only been in talks up to this point, waiting to see a finished script, Charlize Theron has officially signed on to play the big bad going up against Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto in Fast 8 . Theron will actually be playing in the new Fast & Furious entry, and rumors had pinned her as a potential new member of the nasty Shaw family (previous siblings including Luke Evans ' Owen and Jason Statham's Deckard). But it sounds like she's just going to be a powerful, dangerous woman who has great influence in the criminal underworld. It would be fun to see the new movie shot almost completely from her point of view, a la Mad Max: Fury Road, but that probably won't work in terms of the Fast films' usual focus. Diesel is back of course alongside Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and the rest of the current cast, and some filming has already commenced, though largely limited to second unit stunt work so far. Vin Diesel instagrammed , FAST & FURIOUS 9 arrives April 19, 2019 and FAST & FURIOUS 10 arrives April 2, 2021. Universal Pictures is reportedly in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to shoot a portion of FAST 8 in Cuba. Back to the matter of 8 … First and most importantly is the SCRIPT, which has to be great. Hopefully the writer will deliver something within the next two weeks… before my Witch Hunter press tour begins. There has always been the desire by Paul to have Rob direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign… I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning… racing. He would also handle the Brian O’connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place. Ultimately we all want the best film to honor what we have created and what you the audience has adopted as your favorite franchise.
