"Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four" Dianna Agron, one of the stars of red-hot Fox series “Glee,” has nabbed the female romantic lead in “I Am Number Four,” DreamWorks’ adaptation of the upcoming young-adult science-fiction book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. “Four” revolves around a group of nine aliens who escaped their home planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character, to be played by British actor Alex Pettyfer, disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he’s still being hunted by his planet’s enemy. Agron will play a girl dating a high school jock who falls for Number Four and becomes his confidante. “Four” will be Agron’s big-studio debut. The role in the high-pedigree movie — Michael Bay is producing with Steven Spielberg, and D.J. Caruso is directing — was highly sought-after, and the studio went through several rounds of tests to find the right candidat

Fox's Glee Picked Up For Season 2

Fox's Glee Picked Up For Season 2 Was this really a surprise, since I got a glimpse of the show at comic con, I knew I was going to love this show and it turns out so do a lot of other people. But the early pickup will allow the show's producers to start planning season two now , and will also allow Fox to conduct a nationwide casting search to fill three new roles on the show. The "Glee" casting competition gets underway in February, and will be produced as a multi-part special to air in late summer , leading to the fall launch of "Glee's" sophomore season. "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy said the second season competish is in the vein of his initial talent search to find "Glee's" breakout cast. "Anybody and everybody now has a chance to be on a show about talented underdogs," Murphy said. "We want to be the first interactive musical comedy on television." In picking up "Glee" early, Fox Entertainment pre

Idina Menzel To Join "Glee" As A Coach

Idina Menzel To Join "Glee" As A Coach Meet Will Schuester's new rival. Broadway star Idina Menzel is in negotiations to recur on Fox's "Glee." Menzel, who is expected to appear in all of the remaining nine episodes of the season, will play the coach to glee club Vocal Adrenaline, the McKinley High glee club's main competition. Menzel had said she is a big fan of "Glee" and its young star Lea Michele, also a Broadway pro. Because of Menzel and Michele's similar musical theater background and strong resemblance, fans had been lobbying for Menzel to appear on the show as Rachel Berry's (Michele) biological mother. They've got their wish ... sort of. Menzel won a Tony for her role on "Wicked." Her co-star on the show, Kristin Chenoweth, guest starred on "Glee" earlier this season. Menzel is the second Broadway name to recur on "Glee" this spring. Jonathan Groff, who co-starred opposite Michele in the Broad

'Glee' Helps Struggling Music Industry

'Glee' Helps Struggling Music Industry Its characters may feel like a bunch of unloved high-school misfits, but the quirky musical TV comedy " Glee " is putting smiles on the faces of music industry executives searching for new revenue in an era of plunging album sales. Two months into the 2009-10 TV season, "Glee" is drawing a weekly audience of 8.6 million viewers to the Fox television network. Fans have bought more than two million tunes sung by the show's cast on iTunes, and soundtracks are being compiled and sold in traditional stores. Revenues are being split among Fox and the record company, and artists and music publishers are being paid licensing fees for songs "Glee" uses in musical numbers in each episode. "Record labels have been desperate for new revenue," said Steve Knopper, contributing editor for Rolling Stone magazine. "They are trying to figure out any way to make money and one pretty reliable way is to sync up

"Glee" Is Picked Up For The First Season

"Glee" Is Picked Up For The First Season Fox has given frosh skein "Glee" the first full-season pickup of the new fall season. This should have been a no brainier. The show is a breath of fresh air to TV, something original and new. Once I saw the preview at Comic Con this year I was hooked and looking forward to the rest of the season The "back nine" pickup, which was expected , comes as " Glee " has shown signs of becoming a consistently strong performer for Fox. The show averaged a solid 3.5 rating and 9 share among adults 18-49 in week one, and dipped just 9%. Fox Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly, who announced the pickup on Monday - the first day of the new TV season - called "Glee" a "gem of a show." "It's already got the makings of a cultural phenomenon," Reilly said. "I've seen all 13 episodes, and Ryan Murphy, his team and the talented 'Glee' cast have knocked our socks off with their i
