"Glee" Is Picked Up For The First Season

"Glee" Is Picked Up For The First Season
Fox has given frosh skein "Glee" the first full-season pickup of the new fall season.

This should have been a no brainier. The show is a breath of fresh air to TV, something original and new. Once I saw the preview at Comic Con this year I was hooked and looking forward to the rest of the season

The "back nine" pickup, which was expected , comes as "Glee" has shown signs of becoming a consistently strong performer for Fox. The show averaged a solid 3.5 rating and 9 share among adults 18-49 in week one, and dipped just 9%.

Fox Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly, who announced the pickup on Monday - the first day of the new TV season - called "Glee" a "gem of a show."

"It's already got the makings of a cultural phenomenon," Reilly said. "I've seen all 13 episodes, and Ryan Murphy, his team and the talented 'Glee' cast have knocked our socks off with their incredible work."

Murphy said he was gratified to earn the prize for first show picked up, "and that this underdog series, like its characters, will get the chance to keep singing.

"We're grateful for the incredible passion shown by everyone involved - the unbelievable fans, the cast, crew, our partners at the network and studio, and even music artists and labels," he said.

Murphy co-created "Glee" with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Murphy, Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto exec produce for 20th Century Fox TV and Ryan Murphy TV.

"Glee" stars Matthew Morrison as a teacher who revives a glee club full of misfits - to the chagrin of rival Jane Lynch. Show's cast also includes Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley and Mark Salling.

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision. Here's where Winona Ryder comes...

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
