Inside the Bucket returns with juicy goodness as Matt is joined by Brandon and Rama to give you all this week's movie and television news and reviews from our website SANDWICHJOHNFILMS.COM . Already dripping with SJF ballsy grease, the boys endeavor to discuss several items of supposed importance. This week, they focus on the frontrunner for the Han Solo standalone movie, break down the first Doctor Strange trailer, and then provide a SPOILER-FREE review of Captain America: Civil War . Then it's on to this week's box office report, as The Jungle Book and the newest Barbershop flick do battle for the top spot. The boys also discuss movies and television shows hitting Blu-ray this week. After a short beer break, it's on to Rants and Raves, where the boys bitch and gripe about all the things they've been watching a reading about this week. See our show notes to see

Affleck's Solo Batman Film Is Official

It's been pretty much agreed for a long time now that Ben Affleck would make a stand-alone Batman film in which he stars as the version of the Caped Crusader introduced in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice . Now Warner Bros. has made it officially official, announcing the film at its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. Talk of Affleck working on a Batman film has been going on for a while; at least since last year's San Diego Comic-Con, where reports surfaced that the actor/director was writing a version of the script with DC's Geoff Johns. What could the film cover? No one outside of the core creative team knows for now, though it could involve a match-up between Affleck's Batman and Jared Leto's Joker, or dig into someone else from the hero's sprawling rogue's gallery. And might we see something from before the time of Batman V Superman? It's all just speculation until the announcements start to happen, and we still don't know when the fi

#BatmanvSuperman Dawn of Justice Takes A Huge Hit

According to Variety “ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ” is still the top contender at the box office, but its second weekend in theaters won’t be quite as victorious as its debut. Warner Bros. and DC’s clash of the superheroes is now tracking for a three-day total of $50 million, down from yesterday’s expected $58 million. “BvS” pulled in $15 million on Friday from 4,256 locations, and it’s expected to hit a cumulative domestic gross of $260 million by Sunday’s end. The first week of the movie took in $209.1 million in the U.S. — the 10th-highest first-week total of all time — with a $166 million opening weekend. Despite the negative reviews, audiences appear to have embraced the film, based both on box office turnout and on social media metrics. Fifty seven percent of the conversation on Twitter following the film’s debut has been positive, according to social media tracking service Fizziology. Less than 10 percent of the tweets about the film have been negative, with the r

@FunkoDCLegion Review: March 2016

The first volley fired by DC looks strangely familiar. Review by Matt Cummings With Loot Crate now a distant memory and March's Geek Fuel riding on whether we ditch it as well, a new player has risen to challenge the seemingly indestructible Marvel Collector Corps. On Monday, we received our first DC Legion of Collectors box, ready to tear into its geeky DC Comics goodness. And while it looks strangely familiar to other Funko boxes, it's also a very good opening salvo. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the deal again: promising a value of $50, the sub continues the tradition of Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure and t-shirt without the fluff or filter (their words). #Gotham Season 2 First Images & Promo Clip

FOX has released the first images from the second season of Gotham . Gotham is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (The Mentalist, Rome), Gotham follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. #JenaMalone Will Play Barbara Gordon In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Latinoreview is reporting that Jena Malone will play Barbara Gordon . No word yet whether she’d become Batgirl or Oracle in this movie. But word has it that Commissioner Gordon has already passed away prior to the story in “ Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ” No confirmation yet, so take that info with a grain of salt for now. Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. Zack Snyder’s film, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, stars Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. The film also stars Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and r

New Images From #BatmanVSuperman: Dawn Of Justice

In the September issue, Empire sits down with the brains trust behind the new DC/Warner Bros. superpowered behemoth, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice . It's the beginning of unrivalled coverage of a film that has an awful lot riding on it. The on-set stories, the genesis, the new casting and its place in the fast-developing DCverse are all tackled within, with director Zack Snyder , producers Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven, and its two key protagonists, Henry Cavill (the Man of Steel) and Ben Affleck (the Dark Knight), promising a muscular, dark-hewn epic. These three exclusive new shots from within the article's pages bear that out. See all the images after the Jump... First up is Cavill's Supes, looking like, a) he's inside the burnt-out ruins of Wayne Manor, and b) he's not there to measure it out for new soft furnishing. Below is his adversary, for the majority of the movie at least, in Affleck's Batman. Note the almost medieval shape of th

#BatmanVSuperman Empire Cover Photo

The new issue of Empire lands this week and the front cover packs a mighty bunch. Well, four mighty punches to be exact, two each from the fists of Batman and Superman . This month's cover stars and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice adversaries hail from different sides of the light/dark spectrum. Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight is pictured against a murky and distinctive Gotham cityscape. “There is just this gravitas to Batman,” director/producer/franchise oversees Zack Snyder stresses in our cover feature. “He is operatic.” And Superman? " In this movie, everyone has split into different directions as to how they feel about this alien," explains Henry Cavill. "Some people love him, some hate him. Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?" At the heart of Empire's access-all-areas coverage this month is a trip to the heart of the Batman V Superman brains trust and a chance to meet the man piloting this superhero behemoth, as well as his stars, and get the sc

#LootCrate Review: July 2015

Can Loot Crate keep up its successful run with July 2015's Heroes2? Read on to find out! Review by Matt Cummings The subscription box Loot Crate has amassed a stellar run recently, having delivered exceptional boxes in March , April , May , and June . But potential problems threaten subscriber support, as the company tries a new upgrade plan that could see their mainstay - the shirt - available only in higher-priced boxes. And while I like July's theme of HEROES 2, the lack of a shirt is a lingering concern. We've noticed that USPS and other carriers are doing a better job delivering the boxes, as this one is missing the usual dents and scratches that plagued earlier deliveries. Upon cracking the case, we see a neat Batman figure but no t-shirt, a real bummer but one almost made up by what looks like a sweet Batman figure. Last month's Tron-inspired Optimus Prime was perhaps one of its best ever, and I was hoping this month for a worthy opponent. Its
