BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Soundtrack Review: The LEGO Batman Movie

The LEGO Batman Movie – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack loves its Batman by upping the dramatic camp and delivering it in a black cowl. Review by Matt Cummings The LEGO Batman Movie was a hilarious tribute to the 75-year history of The Dark Knight, offering up heavy meta to every incarnation including the infamous Bat Nipple. While it's not as good as the fantastic The LEGO Movie , there's so much going on here that you need multiple viewings just to get all the jokes and to appreciate Actor Will Arnett's performance. An important component to my elevation of the film as one of the best of early 2017, The LEGO Batman Movie – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is also full of terrific tips-of-the-hat to previous Batman movies, blending heavy orchestrations, guitar rock, electronic drums, and interesting sound effects into a must-buy. Billionaire Bruce Wayne and his doppelganger Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) revel in the life each has created for himself.

Movie Review: #AUnitedKingdom

Race, love, colonialism, politics, and diamonds are all on the table in the period drama A United Kingdom Review by Matt Cummings A United Kingdom posits an important question without being willing to come up with an answer: why is race still such a politically-charged subject for so many around the world? Viewers will need to find those answers elsewhere, although the few that will see this indie drama will enjoy the well-appointed acting and beautifully-shot landscapes, while chagrining at its paint-by-the-numbers racist villains. Seretse Khama (David Oyelowo), heir to the kingdom of Bechuanaland and (eventually) his country’s first democratically-elected president, falls in love with Ruth (Rosamund Pike) while studying law in 1947 London. Ruth, a beautiful but simple office worker, shares Khama's love of jazz, but is aware that many (including her father) don't approve of her grand plan to marry Khama. Neither does the English government, lead by a snooty ch

#TheBelkoExperiment CLAYMATION SHORT #1

Watch The Belko Experiment in bloody, beautiful, NSFW claymation, courtesy of Lee Hardastle. In a twisted social experiment, a group of 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogata, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company's intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed. The Belko Experiment stars John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn, John C. McGinley and Michael Rooker. Written by the acclaimed writer/director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither) and directed by Greg McLean (creator of the Wolf Creek franchise), THE BELKO EXPERIMENT is a terrifying, provocative and at times hilarious thrill-ride that literally provokes the question; what does it take to survive at work? From Orion Pictures, THE BELKO EXPERIMENT stars John Gallagher Jr. (“The Newsroom”, 10 Cloverfield Lane), Tony Goldwyn (“Scandal”), John C. McGinley (“Stan Against Evil,” “Scrubs”), Adria Arjona (“True Detective”), Josh Brener

Nightwing Movie On It's Way

THR is reporting Chris McKay will helm a film based on the DC character Dick Grayson , best known as a member of the Batman family. Warner Bros. is plotting a new DC superhero film based on the Batman-centric character Nightwing . Chris McKay, who most recently directed The Lego Batman Movie for Warner Bros., is in negotiations to helm the new live-action film, and Bill Dubuque (The Accountant) is writing the script. Nightwing, aka Dick Grayson , is perhaps best known for being the original Robin. Grayson was the youngest member of a family of acrobats known as the Flying Graysons. He was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and illustrator Jerry Robinson, and first introduced in Detective Comics No. 38 in April 1940. After his parents were murdered, he was taken in as the legal ward of Bruce Wayne/Batman. He then became Robin and teamed up with the Dark Knight on many an adventure to fight crime in the city of Gotham. Grayson famously shed his persona in the 1980s as the ch

Movie Review: #RockDog

A Tibetan Mastiff seeks rock n' roll glory in a visually appealing but forgettable kids flick. Review by Matt Cummings If the seemingly recent and large wave of animated films has made you feel a bit burned out, you're not alone. They seem to happen every month now, with many failing to establish themselves as anything more than excuses to get the kids out of the house. Rock Dog is one of these middle-of-the-road, non-offensive flicks, gorgeously rendered but failing entirely to capture our hearts with its paper-thin, almost corporate storyline of big dreams and plug-and-play rock anthems. The Tibetan Mastiff Bodi (Luke Wilson) lives in the pretty mountain village of Snow Mountain, where sheep wool dominates the economy. For a period though, music also set the stage, until an attack by wolves forced Bodi's gruff father and defender Khampa (J.K. Simmons) to stop the tunes and focus on defense. Using those same shorn sheep, Khampa builds fake mastiffs with

Movie Review: Get Out

An original horror film? Get out! Review by Brandon Wolfe Jordan Peele, one half of the comedy duo Key and Peele, doesn’t, put mildly, seem like a natural fit for the horror genre. A lifelong horror fan, Peele had noted that the genre, while no stranger to tackling social issues, has never really grappled with the subject of race in any substantial way (he has said that the original Night of the Living Dead was the closest the genre has come, but Tales from the Hood probably merits at least a mention). To wit, Peele has made his directorial debut with the racially tinged Get Out , a story that addresses race head-on. The question that immediately emerges is whether or not such a dyed-in-the-wool comedy fixture could make a straightforward, serious-minded horror film. The answer is a full-throated “sorta.” Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) is a college student six months deep into an exceedingly cutesy relationship with Rose ( Girls ’ Allison Williams). Rose invites Chris to accompany her t
