Stephen Merchant is on script and directorial duty, basing the film on the real-life experiences of WWE star Paige (AKA Saraya-Jade Bevis Miller) and her family of professional wrestlers. The movie will see Nick Frost as her father a reformed gangster and former wrestler, his wife ( Lena Headey ) and their children, who make a living performing in tiny venues across the country. Mel Gibson In Talks To Direct Suicide Squad 2

Variety is reporting Warner Bros. has begun the search for the director who will take over the reins for the sequel to box office hit “ Suicide Squad .” Mel Gibson is perhaps the most surprising of the handful of possibilities. Sources tell Variety that in addition to Gibson, Warners has met with — or is planning to meet with — Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”), Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House”), and Jonathan Levine (“Warm Bodies”). Warner Bros. had no comment. Though insiders say the list could grow and that there is no front-runner at the moment, one source close to the situation said if Gibson wants it, the job is his. Gibson had said in the past that he wasn’t interested in directing a comic book movie so his involvement does seem odd, but sources now reveal that the filmmaker is excited about the prospect of working with this cast, specifically Will Smith. Before Ben Affleck and Gavin O’Connor became involved in “The Accountant,” Gibson and Smith tried teaming up on the f

Frank Grillo To Star In The Raid Remake

The attempt to make a new version – once touted as a remake – of Gareth Evans' excellent action thriller The Raid has had a typically torturous development battle with actors and directors named then departing. Now, it there is confirmation that Frank Grillo (who has been attached for a while) and his The Grey director Joe Carnahan are involved in a new take on the idea. As revealed on Carnahan and Grillo's Instagram pages and the Twitter feed of XYZ Films, the plan is to create a fresh spin on the idea of Evans' tower block-based blend of siege movie and martial arts action, with a new idea and different fighting styles. So it's not a remake, more a different angle on the concept. And this has been quietly known for around a month, as Grillo explained to We Live Film's Fred Topel in January. Grillo explained then that he and Carnahan were in the midst of talks with XYZ to get the rights to do this, and the deal is finally settled. So what makes this one d

New Clip From THE LOST CITY OF Z

Based on author David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, THE LOST CITY OF Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett ( Charlie Hunnam ), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as “savages,” the determined Fawcett – supported by his devoted wife (Sienna Miller), son ( Tom Holland ) and aide-de-camp ( Robert Pattinson ) – returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925. An epically scaled tale of courage and obsession, told in James Gray’s classic filmmaking style, THE LOST CITY OF Z is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and those individuals driven to achieve greatness at any cost. Movie Review: #FistFight

The high school teacher beatdown Fist Fight is hilarious until it's not. And then it's just plain offensive. Review by Matt Cummings If you're wondering whether that blast of fresh air at your local theater is courtesy of real films finally arriving for our enjoyment, think again. For every day of clear sailing ( John Wick: Chapter 2 ) there's still a storm that blows us off course ( Fifty Shades Darker ). Depending on whether you like teen drug use, sex, and pedophilia, the high school comedy Fist Fight will either be more proof that the box office is back or this head-scratcher should never have been made. As the school year ends, high school teachers Andy (Charlie Day), Strickland (Ice Cube), Coach Crawford (Tracy Morgan), and Holly (Jillian Bell) are ready for a vacation. So are the apathetic students: they're pranking every teacher, hanging offensive signs everywhere, and engaging in a giant middle finger to the staff. But the teachers have a ton o
