BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: #TheWildLife

The harmless The Wild Life is also exceeding boring. Review by Matt Cummings The French-Belgium animated feature The Wild Life is anything but that, a slow, often boring affair that both lacks a strong antagonist and is bereft of heroes with personalities above the temperature of oatmeal. Essentially a version of Robinson Crusoe with talking animals, Life introduces us to the chatty parrot Tuesday and his posse of anthropomorphic animal friends who live on an isolated island. But when a violent storm wrecks the island, Tuesday and his friends awake to discover that a ship has crashed on the beach. When it's revealed that the only surviving passenger is none other than Robinson Crusoe, Tuesday is torn between siding with his friends' racial phobia about humans and his desire to seek adventure far off the island. Aligning himself with the fumbling Crusoe, the team soon realizes that pride of hungry and violent cats has also survived and want to take control of t

THE #FREEFIRE TRAILER & POSTER HAS ARRIVED

It's all guns, no control in the electrifying first trailer for Ben Wheatley's FREE FIRE . The wickedly fun thriller had its world premiere last night as the opening night film of TIFF Midnight Madness. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy and Jack Reynor . Bold, breathless and wickedly fun, Free Fire is an electrifying comedy-thriller about an arms deal that goes spectacularly and explosively wrong. Acclaimed filmmaker Ben Wheatley (Kill List, High Rise) propels the audience head-on into quite possibly the most epic shootout ever seen on film as he crafts a spectacular parody –– and biting critique –– of the insanity of gun violence. Everyone’s got a gun, and absolutely no one is in control. Set in a colorful yet gritty 1970s Boston, Free Fire opens with Justine (Oscar® winner Brie Larson), a mysterious American businesswoman, and her wise-cracking associate Ord (Armie Hammer) arranging a black-market weapons deal in a deserted wa

THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN Clip "Lunch Break"

STX Entertainment's THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN , featuring a very funny (and slightly NSFW) scene between Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson' s characters. THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN is a new coming-of-age movie in the vein of Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club - an honest, candid, often hilarious look at what it's like to grow up as a young woman in today's modern world. Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy (Hayden Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things just might not be so terrible after all. The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine's well-meaning but completely ineffective mother, and Woody Harrelson as Nadine's History te

Movie Review: #Sully

Sully is a competent but unrewarding disaster film. Review by Matt Cummings If the worst Summer movie season in recent memory has you hungry for more competent fare, Sully might be the perfect meal. But don't expect to be blown away or even moved by its rather pedestrian, paint-by-the-numbers old school blandness. It's competent and likeable, but fails to stir anyone's appreciation for a heroic feat that doesn't really need a movie to tell it. For 40-year flight veteran Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger (Tom Hanks), piloting has been in his blood since he was a teen. An air combat veteran, he's settled down into the unremarkable world of commercial passenger planes, shuttling passengers for US Airways. But when his flight loses both engines after multiple bird strikes, he's forced to land in the Hudson River. The rescue becomes a worldwide sensation and makes Sully a national hero, but members of the National Traffic Safety Board aren't
