On Monday the rapper, actor, and filmmaker revealed on Twitter that he has met with New Line Cinema about making Last Friday , which would be the fourth film in the comedy franchise about an everyman trying to get by in South Central L.A. Cube’s update came with a caveat, however: “Can’t do Last Friday unless we can do it right,” he wrote. “Ball is in New Line Cinema’s hands. Bat is in mine.” Cube starred in and made his screenwriting debut on the original Friday, which was released in 1995 and helped propel costar Chris Tucker to stardom. A low-budget hit, the film spawned two sequels, 2000’s Next Friday and 2002’s Friday After Next. There has been talk of a potential fourth installment since at least 2011. Cube’s tweet came a day after he shot down rumors that his son, Straight Outta Compton star O’Shea Jackson Jr., would star in a Friday remake. “Can’t mess with a classic,” he said.
