Movie Review: Me Before You

Is this movie sappy and suitable for a date night out? Yes. By: Erika Ashley A wealthy, handsome, and successful playboy, Will Traynor, has his life changed forever when a freak auto accident paralyzes him from the neck down. After several attempts of finding a suitable caregiver and companion for Will, his parents hire an adorably eclectic and constantly optimistic young woman, Louisa Clark, to care for him. Lou accidentally learns about Will’s long term plant to potentially end his life causing her to make it her mission to change his mind by any means necessary. Understanding that this film is based on a romance novel, one has to be slightly open minded that the book is probably going to be better or at least much different than the movie. The film’s story gets a little confusing as the two main characters, Will (played by Sam Claflin ) and Lou (played by Emilia Clarke ), very subtly fall for each other. Granted the characters are complete opposites with Will being a co

Superman Will Appear In Supergirl Season 2

In its first season, Supergirl featured only fleeting glimpses of her cousin, the Man Of Steel . While the producers stated that this was to make sure that the focus stayed squarely on Melissa Benoist's Kara, beyond that Warner Bros./DC didn't want Superman to be appearing on the big screen and the small at the same time. Obviously something has changed. Casting is underway for an actor to play Superman in the first two episodes of the show's second season, with the assumption being that he will show up again occasionally (perhaps on the four-way crossover of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow?). Enthuses executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, "Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!” Those who have done so previously include Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Gerard Christopher,

Movie Review: #Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping Review by Matt Cummings If This is Spinal Tap represents the pinnacle of the music mockumentary, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a powerful lesson in what can happen when nearly all the same "right pieces" turn out something very different. Hilariously inventive throughout - but painfully slow when character development needs to take place - the comedy hits some interesting heights and nearly wins over our love. For boy-band leader Connor Friel (AKA Connor4real, played by Andy Samberg), his first project Style Boyz was a sensation that needed to end. Started by his best friends Lawrence (Akiva Schaffer) and DJ Owen (Jorma Taccone), the act became an example of 90's excess silliness with tracks like Karate Guy and Donkey Roll . After a fight on stage, the band breaks up and Connor embarks upon a successful solo career, experiencing instant success. But it's not long before his second album crashes, leading the douch

Fathom Event Recap: @KISSOnline Las Vegas Live Concert

Was a great performance and KISS lives up to their reputation. Review by: Erika Ashley On Wednesday May 25th, 2016 movie theaters across the nation hosted the KISS: Las Vegas Live Concert in a one night only viewing. This was my first time ever seeing KISS perform in theaters and just in general. Growing up my dad would listen to various 80s and 90s rock music and of course I would be exposed to the more popular songs from KISS that played on the radio. However, sitting in a theater, in the middle of the week, just after work-hours with about 20 others was certainly a different experience taking in KISS. Being an outsider amongst die-hard KISS fans was an interesting experience to say the least. The film opens with KISS giving an introduction to the concert and discussing some insider knowledge about how the event was planned and executed. Listening to Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley openly and eagerly discuss their vision of designing their once in a lifetime residency performa

Dope's Rick Famuyiwa Will Direct The Flash Movie

Warner Bros. and DC's film version of The Flash seemed to be going full speed ahead back in October of last year, when Dark Shadows script man Seth Grahame-Smith stepped aboard to make it his directorial debut. But he left just as suddenly at the start of last month, leaving the film without a director. A replacement has now been found, with Dope's Rick Famuyiwa taking the job. Famuyiwa will inherit Grahame-Smith's script for the movie, though he'll probably have some input into any changes moving forward. Ezra Miller, who was introduced as the speedster in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, is set to reprise the role in the first Justice League movie, which is now shooting. Hiring Famuyiwa has the feeling of a positive step forward: while he hasn't worked on a big tentpole effects film, he's brought a lot of vision and heart to his indie work and hiring directors with his sort of CV hasn't hurt Marvel, which saw success with the likes of Joe and An

Movie Review: The Lobster

The overall gist of this film was surprisingly fascinating Review by: Erika Ashley A recently single David, is brought to “The Hotel” in order to find a mate because in the not too distant future, all single adults are required to find a partner and get married by order of the Government. He is given 45 days to couple-up or he will be forced to become an animal of his choosing and released in the wild. During his stay at The Hotel he struggles to find a willing partner and makes a few desperate attempts to find companionship before his final days are up. After a horribly failed attempt at finding love, David runs away to join a group of Loners living between the “The City” and The Hotel. Here finds a group he feels comfortable in but quickly the moods changes once what he was looking for all along stumbles into his life. David is then forced to do everything he can to keep his most prized possession. Let’s start with the story line for this outrageously fascinating film. I

Movie Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

Sequel surprisingly not cowabungled. Review by Brandon Wolfe On average, I see somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-90 movies each year, and in the year of our Lord 2014, I did not see a single movie that I enjoyed less than the reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . Produced by Michael Bay’s IP-graverobbing shingle Platinum Dunes, the film was an ugly, unfunny, soul-dismantling garbage fire. The story was chaotic nonsense, the action was so overly busy as to be numbing and, worst of all, the Turtles, an engaging band of brothers in every prior incarnation, were horrifically redesigned as ghastly monsters with zero charisma. The film wasn’t merely an affront to longtime TMNT fans, it was a cautionary tale for what happens when whiz-bang summer entertainment is produced at its most cynical and calculated. The sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows , could have been a substantial improvement simply by aspiring to the level of being watchable, yet seemed far more
