PARAMOUNT PICTURES’ AND NICKELODEON MOVIES’ “ TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS ” OPENS IN DOMESTIC IMAX® 3D THEATRES FOR A SPECIAL ONE-WEEK ENGAGEMENT BEGINNING THURSDAY, JUNE 2. Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies and IMAX Corporation today announced that “TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS,” the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® format and released in IMAX® 3D theatres domestically for a special one-week run beginning Thursday, June 2 with 5:00 p.m. showtimes. Additionally, the film will be released in approximately 30 select overseas IMAX markets, beginning Wednesday, June 1 and rolling out to additional markets such as Japan, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico throughout the summer. Though 20th Century Fox had hoped to keep the film on track for its February 2017 release date, the ongoing delays to Maze Runner: The Death Cure has had to shift its release date. The movie will now open in January 2018. It's a change made vital by star Dylan O'Brien's nasty facial injury, incurred during a stunt mishap on set in Vancouver back in March. In order to give him time to properly recover, production was initially shut down for a short time, with director Wes Ball and the producers hoping to kick things back into gear in early June. But O'Brien understandably needed more recovery and it was announced that the film was on hold indefinitely. There is no date in the books for the shoot to start up again, but that shifted release date means that the cast and crew will be back at work in the future, even if they all end up working on other things before completing the latest adaptation of author James Dashner's book series. Add another to the list as Jeff Bridges announced via Twitter that he's on board. Like several others (including the potential return of an old friend), Bridges posted an image of a poster for the movie that includes a hint about his character.
