BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: #TheNiceGuys

Strong characters and hilarious moments make The Nice Guys an essential comedy. Review by Matt Cummings If this summer's playlist going forward seems a bit...lame?...it's because 2016 has the ability to mostly play out that way. One of the exceptions to this march of cinematic malaise is the Shane Black-directed comedy The Nice Guys , perhaps an instant classic in the buddy cop genre, and strong proof that great comedies during this time of the year can also be smart ones. Los Angeles PI's Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) and Holland March (Ryan Gosling) are not exactly the perfect Dynamic Duo for 1977. The bruiser Healy has been sent to beat up March, who is looking for a missing porn star. But as the two 'meet' with Healy getting the better (broken) hand, the two realize that they're being set up by shadowy and powerful forces. It's revealed that a porno may contain important details of collusion between Detroit's auto companies, and so al

Movie Review: The Angry Birds Movie

Anger surprisingly doesn’t lead to suffering in game adaptation. Review by Brandon Wolfe Angry Birds has always functioned primarily as an agreeable way to pass the time on the toilet, but it’s difficult to imagine any of the millions of people who have downloaded the game over the years putting much thought into the rules that govern its world. Why are those birds so angry? Why do those pigs construct such breathtakingly shoddy structures around themselves? That one bird who is shaped and functions like a bomb, what’s his story? Players trying to carefully aim the yellow bird directly at the TNT box located at a crucial juncture almost certainly never stopped to ask themselves these hard questions, and yet here is The Angry Birds Movie to answer them all the same. The red bird with the bushy eyebrows on the game’s logo? His name, naturally, is Red, and he is voiced with the sardonic tones of Jason Sudeikis. Red lives on Bird Island, a happy little community of inexplicably flig

Margot Robbie In Talks To Join Goodbye Christopher Robin

Variety is reporting Margot Robbie is in early negotiations to co-star with Domhnall Gleeson in Simon Curtis’ “ Goodbye Christopher Robin .” Curtis will direct the pic that revolves around “ Winnie the Pooh ” creator A.A. Milne and the relationship between him and his son Robin. Robin, who initially had a difficult relationship with his father, served as the inspiration for the character of Christopher Robin. Pooh was named after Robin’s teddy bear. The real Robin’s toys also lent their names to other Winnie the Pooh characters such as Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. While negotiations have just started, if a deal were to close, Robbie would play Milne’s wife. Damian Jones is producing along with former Pinewood Pictures head Steve Christian. Pathe developed the project, which will go through Jones’ first-look production pact with Fox Searchlight. Robbie has a busy summer ahead of her, with two major tentpoles set to premiere. In July, she will play Jane in “Legend of Tarzan” f

Movie Review:The Man Who Knew Infinity

Excellent performances from his entire cast. Review by: Beevers So far, 21st century biopics have been very kind to real-life 20th century scientists and mathematicians. Some of them were fairly well-known before getting the big-screen treatment and some... not so much. 2016 offers up " The Man Who Knew Infinity ", a biopic about the most famous genius you probably never heard of. Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan may not have the international renown of Stephen Hawking but " The Man Who Knew Infinity " brings us a story of tenacity, triumph and tragedy in the world of mathematics that deserves its own moment of discovery. Popular British actor Dev Patel (from "Slumdog Millionaire" and the "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" movies) plays Ramanujan, a young Indian man who fought prejudice and overcame numerous other obstacles in order to bring his particular genius to light. With little formal education and struggling to survive financial

New Star Trek TV Series Teaser Trailer

"New villains. New crews. New heroes. New worlds." But not really much news. The first teaser trailer for the new Star Trek TV series has arrived online and, since the show – being run by, among others, Hannibal's Bryan Fuller – is still in its infancy, there were no major announcements. But take a look at the teaser, which flies around the stars, regardless. Fuller and Alex Kurtzman are the executive producers, and the show will also boast the writing (and potentially directing) talents of Nicholas Meyer, the man who helped to bring Star Trek back to life on the big screen with Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan in 1982, wrote 1986's The Voyage Home and then helped send the original crew's movies off with 1991's The Undiscovered Country. No casting details have emerged yet, but those should be following along soon enough. And there has been talk that this will be an anthology series following different ships and crews through their adventures. Which co
