Craig Zahler (' Bone Tomahawk ') has been tapped to write the first script titled ' Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich ,' which will be part of multiple storylines and an expanded mythology. Di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media are partnering up to bring a new version of Charles Band’s cult classic horror franchise Puppet Master to the big screen. S. Movies based on video games still don't have the best track record, but that isn't stopping producer Marc Platt, who has just lined up a deal with game behemoth SEGA to develop a movie based on its Shinobi franchise. Originally debuting in arcades back in 1987 to take advantage of the late '80s ninja boom, the game has since spread across multiple platforms and become a successful series of titles, with the most recent version arriving in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS. Presumably the film will take on some manner of a hero learning the ways of the ninja warrior and battling evil martial arts types. “We love the Shinobi games and believe that the world of ninjas has never been properly explored onscreen,” Platt tells Variety. “We now have the opportunity to do just that. THR is reporting Justin Lin , Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello are ready to shoot some intergalactic hoops with LeBron James . The Fast & Furious 6 and Star Trek Beyond helmer is co-writing with Dodge and Botello the Warner Bros.' sequel Space Jam 2. Lin is also eyeing to direct and produce via his Perfect Storm Entertainment, and sources say he will be thoroughly involved in the creative development of the project. Rumors of a follow-up to the live action/animated 1996 hit have been brewing for years, and picked up again when James and his company SpringHill Entertainment signed a deal with Warner Bros. in July.
