BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Soundtrack Review: #Zoolander2

Much like the film, Composer Theodore Shapiro's score fails to find its pulse. Review by Matt Cummings A seriously good soundtrack starts with a message, something that binds the music to the film. Think Star Wars . James Bond . Unfortunately, Zoolander No. 2 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is lacking that element, instead riding a wave of set up music and never quite reaching its potential. When world famous pop stars are murdered by a shadowy organization, Interpol Agent Valentina (Penelope Cruz) suspects that their final poses on Instagram look suspiciously like those of fashion icon Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller). Unfortunately, he's been out of reach for over a decade, living in seclusion after losing the rights to his child and witnessing the death of his wife. His friend Hansel (Owen Wilson) has also been living away from the runway, now a part of a multi-marriage family in the desert. But when the two are offered a chance to return to the fashion l

Movie Review:'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny'

Outside of great action sequences, the weak sequel fails to keep our attention. Review by Matt Cummings To say that 2000's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is still a beloved film might be an understatement. The winner of four Oscars and nominated for six more, the film was a worldwide sensation, proving that Kung-Fu wasn't skin deep and that character dramas could exist quite well alongside insanely good action. But that was nearly two decades ago: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny barely warrants our attention, reminding us that sometimes follow-ups are hampered by the original, and other times betrayed by their own motives. Set 20 years after the death of Li Mu Bai, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny , sees our heroine Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) living a life of solitude. While travelling to the funeral of an old friend, her convoy is attacked by the powerful Hades Dai (Jason Scott Lee). With the help of an unknown ally (Donnie Y

Movie Review: 'Triple 9'

The dark and of ugly world of Triple 9 tells us more than we probably want to know. Review by Matt Cummings For a person who finds himself loyal to our country's police forces, Triple 9 sends a scary and unfortunate truth: those who protect us sometimes get swept up in the world they try to protect us from. I just wish the hard action and duplicitous nature of its excellent leads would have amounted to something in the end. The city of Atlanta is not only filled with a bevy of undesirable gangs but a team of cops that are as corrupt as the people they hunt. At its center is a crack team led by Atwood (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his partners Belmont (Anthony Mackie), Welch (Aaron Paul), his Special-Ops brother Russell (Norman Reedus), and the detective Rodriguez (Clifton Collins Jr.). Scoring heists in an attempt to free Atwood's son from the clutches of the Russian-Jew gangster Irina Vlaslov (Kate Winslet), the team are faced with a final, nearly impossible challenge

Movie Review: 'Gods of Egypt'

Gods of Egypt deftly builds up its universe, while its horrible CGI and cheap laughs burn it all down. Review by Matt Cummings As we prepare for the imminent release of the Egyptian fantasy Gods of Egypt , it's drawing the kind of attention that I'm sure it would rather not. Sure to be compared to last year's disastrous 2015 Jupiter Ascending , Gods builds an impressive universe with a good (but white-washed) cast, while wasting its capital with cheap storytelling and terrible special effects. The result makes Jupiter look like the next Harry Potter. Set in the period of the great period of Egyptian history when gods were said to walk among the people, Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is nearly crowned king by his father Osiris (Bryan Brown) when Horus' nephew Set (Gerard Butler) steps in to challenge the throne. Unfortunately, Set gets the better of Horus, killing Osiris and plunging Egypt into slavery, leaving Horus blind and unsure of his future. But s
