Soundtrack Review: #Sherlock Season 3

Season 3's score continues to solve the mystery behind this modern series masterpiece. Review by Matt Cummings Unless you've lived under a television rock for the past three years, you probably know all about the BBC series Sherlock . Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, these 90-minute, three-episode arcs have done nothing less than solidify each actor's standing as top-tier talent. Central to the success of the show is the soundtrack by Composers David Arnold and Michael Price. Season 3's score is out now, and the results continue to unravel the mystery of this now iconic series. Set in modern-day London, Sherlock Holmes (Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Freeman) use their quirky chemistry to solve a series of crimes using Sherlock's brilliant but tattered mind and Watson's medical prowess. Season 2 witnessed the apparent death of Sherlock, but after two years he returns to find Watson having moved on. Faced with the loss of his teamma

USPS STAR TREK 50th Anniversary Stamps Coming Soon

Via Variety The U.S. Postal Service will boldly go where it’s gone only once before. The agency will debut a quartet of “ Star Trek ” stamps honoring the original TV show’s 50th anniversary. The USS Enterprise, the Starship Enterprise inside an outline of a Starfleet insignia, a silhouette of a crew member being beamed up and a Vulcan salute get adhesive as part of the 2016 stamp roster. The classic icons are set against backgrounds mirroring the colors of the characters’ uniforms from the series. The USPS also launched “Star Trek”-themed stamps — worth 33 cents — in 1999 as part of its “Celebrate the Century” initiative. The 2016 counterparts are commemorative “Forever” stamps. “We aren’t Trekkies, but we love the franchise, especially the tone and aesthetic of the original CBS series,” said Jason Kernevich, creative director of The Heads of State, the design team behind the stickies. “As we were working on the art Leonard Nimoy passed, so that created an even stronger conne

#RyanCoogler Will Direct BLACK PANTHER

Now it's official via vulture , Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Empire that Ryan Coogler would helm the film featuring a "mostly black cast." "This one is important," Feige said. "Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore." Before Coogler's name was in the mix, Marvel was reportedly courting Selma's Ava DuVernay for the job of bringing Chadwick Boseman 's T'Challa to the screen, but she declined the offer because it "wasn't going to be an Ava DuVernay film." Coogler will be only the second Marvel director not to be a white guy, after Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi. Either way, it's been an impressive rise for the 29-year-old director, whose previous film, Fruitvale Station, won him the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in 2014. (EXLCUSIVE): 2015 #BoxOffice Resolutions

Here's what Hollywood can do immediately to ensure lush 2016 profits. Story by Matt Cummings In a year that saw Hollywood take home the biggest profits of all time (just over $11b), there were many glaring signs that the industry needed a new set of resolutions. And while don't condone the greedy getting greedier, the 2015 box office proved that Hollywood still doesn't have its act together when it comes to producing, distributing, and marketing their films. In some cases, terrible choices were made that cost Sony, Paramount, and Lionsgate millions. What are the essential resolutions which Hollywood must adopt for a profitable 2016? We list just a few below: 1. Fox must give Fantastic Four back to Marvel: When fans heard about the on-set troubles behind FF , it was more than an indication the Josh Trank film was in big trouble. (EXCLUSIVE): 2015 #BoxOffice Sets New All-Time Record

The number was actually a tad below expectations. Story by Matt Cummings The 2015 box office results are in, and some Hollywood studios are singing all the way to the bank. The overall domestic number hit a new record with just over $11b, beating 2013's $10.93b. That's a little lower than expected, mainly due to several high-profile disasters including Fantastic Four , Pixels , and Terminator: Genysis . This is the first time that the North American box office has surpassed $11b. For those of you who think such numbers are bloated due to the high cost of today's tickets, consider another number: attendance at NA theaters surpassed 1.33 billion moviegoers. That's 5% higher than 2014's 1.27b. But early on, things didn't look so good, even though everyone was expecting top numbers as far back as 2013. The first quarter (January through March) staggered to just $18.87b billion, which only ranked in the middle of the past 10 years. But it was Q2
