BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: #SPECTRE

The 24th Bond film lazily moves to an illogical and disappointing third act. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD Review by Matt Cummings For those of us who remember many of the James Bond films when they were actually released, SPECTRE is something of a coming home party Finally able to tap into the terror group's deep roots within the universe, I personally couldn't wait to see how Director Sam Mendes would introduce the shadowy organization and its top dog. Unfortunately, the 24th Bond film suffers from too plot holes, a bloated run time, and characters who've been shoe-horned into a disappointing third act. When James Bond (Daniel Craig) heads to Mexico City during the Day of the Dead festivities, he learns of a new organization that's behind several high-profile terrorist events. Grounded by M (Ralph Fiennes) for defying orders, Bond instead heads to Rome, only to learn his new enemy is far more deadly than any he's ever faced. SPECTRE is headed by th

Movie Review: #The Peanuts Movie

The Peanuts Movie is a warm Linus blanket, with a Snoopy wrapped inside, ready for his big day. Review by Matt Cummings It's been a tough two months at the box office: for every Martian , Bridge of Spies , and Goosebumps , there's been three duds to take each of their places. Thankfully, The Peanuts Movie will not suffer the same fate: it's the best children's film since Paddington and could be the top animated film of 2015. Set amongst the deep history of the franchise, The Peanuts Movie reintroduces us to Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and of course Snoopy, the beagle with a huge imagination and a healthy dislike for his nemesis, The Red Baron. When Charlie Brown gets a new neighbor - the enigmatic Little Red-Haired Girl - he takes steps to win her affection But, bad luck isn't far behind as a series of guffaws and bad timing leave Charlie Brown wondering if he'll ever meet his one true love. Faced with a book report deadline, the en

Movie Review: #Suffragette

A retelling of the historical times when women fought for their rights to vote and gain equality. Review by Erika Ashley Suffragette is a historical drama based on true events from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century depicting the lives of working women in Europe fighting for their right to politically vote. The story follows a younger lower-class working woman Maud Watts, played by Carey Mulligan, and how her internal yearning for equality awakens after witnessing the Suffragette’s impact first hand. With a helping nudge from a fellow worker Violet Miller, played by Anne-Marie Duff, Maud finds herself flung into joining a group of local Suffragettes. After joining the ranks she faces many trials and tribulations, often questioning her own abilities and self-worth during her attempts to earn the vote. With only eight years of directing experience under her belt, the British film director, Sarah Gavron, brings a lackluster attempt at entering into Oscar seas

Movie Review: #Room

Room wastes a golden Oscar opportunity. Review by Matt Cummings In Director Lenny Abrahamson's Room , Joy (Brie Larson) has been held captive for seven years in a 10x10 shed, a victim of a friendly offer to help find a fictitious lost dog. Her captor Old Nick (Sean Bridges) continues to rape her, having fathered the now-five-year-old Jack (Jacob Tremblay) along the way. The long-haired, diaper-bound Jack has never seen the outside world, except for what their skylight and tiny television provide. But when Joy begins to crack under the pressure, she makes a daring escape plan that sees Nick arrested and her world returned reopened. But things have changed for her family, namely the divorce of her mother (Joan Allen) and father (William H. Macy) over Joy's kidnapping. As Jack begins to adjust to the real world, Joy battles depression and a renewed sense of helplessness, as she struggles to gain closure on her experiences. Abrahamson makes Joy's world a depr
