BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

TV Review: From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Season 2

Second season forced to embrace originality. Review by Brandon Wolfe The first season of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series was an exercise in sustained pointlessness. The series, Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation of his own 1996 film, saw fit to take a quick and dirty story and build it out laboriously, to the extent where scenes that once lasted a scant few minutes of screentime now made up a full hour of television. Grafting fat onto a formerly lean framework predictably didn’t do the narrative any favors, nor did the fact that the writing for the series wasn’t merely a step down from Quentin Tarantino’s script for the film so much as a freefall from the upper atmosphere. The series also suffered from an inferior cast, the only highlights of which were Robert Patrick, inheriting Harvey Keitel’s role as Jacob Fuller, and DJ Cotrona, who clearly studied the nuances of George Clooney’s performance as antihero Seth Gecko. Though the series did deviate from the film in some notable ways, to

Movie Review: 'The Transporter Refueled'

The Transporter Refueled feels like it's run out of gas. Review by Matt Cummings The Transporter franchise hasn't evolved much beyond its simple action roots, doing what it knew best while elevating Actor Jason Statham into the pantheon of action heroes. Granted, the franchise has never been about stunning camerawork, glamorous locations, or deep character studies about flawed people trying to make right. It is what people expect: loud music, silly performances, and car/human stunts designed to take away from the lack of plot. Unfortunately, anything truly interesting about The Transporter Refueled gets hopelessly lost in a glorified Audi commercial, rather than a meaningful story about revenge and the driver who gets caught in the middle. As the Transporter, Frank Martin (Ed Skrein) has gained a reputation for getting any package (human or otherwise) to its destination, regardless of the danger. But when his ex-MI6 father (Ray Stevenson) shows up for a little

First Image Of Diggle From ARROW Season 4

Oliver isn’t the only one sporting a new suit when Arrow returns for season 4. I'm not a big fan of this costume. As revealed at Comic-Con, season 4 finds Diggle ( David Ramsey ) actually wearing a super suit, despite never being a fan of them. “We try to be very consistent with our characterization,” EP Marc Guggenheim recently told EW of Diggle’s reaction to the suit. “I don’t think Diggle looks at it as a costume per se,” he continues. “Oliver [Stephen Amell], in the last season, gave him advice in terms of concealing his identity, and so Diggle approaches it from a very practical standpoint. He followed Oliver’s advice and he’s got a means of concealing his identity, but I think Diggle would probably react to anyone calling it a costume.” Arrow is slated to return Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Movie Review: 'Mistress America'

The the well-intentioned Mistress America is true independent comedy, and that's not a good thing. Review by Matt Cummings Actress Greta Gerwig and Director Noah Baumbach hit paydirt with 2012's Frances Ha , showing that that Sacramento-born actress and Brooklyn helmer could craft a funny, poignant comedy about struggling to identify your place in the world. But 2015 already producing a strand of very good independent comedies - Dope , While We're Young , and The DUFF among them - Mistress America arrives feeling a bit rushed, stumbling often, but ultimately delivering a decent quirky time. The 18-year-old Tracy (Lola Kirke) is facing more than the challenges of her first semester in college would suggest: her mother is getting married to a conservative Catholic, she struggles to maintain a social life, and an effort to join the campus' Morbus Literary Society has utterly failed. Desperate for friends, she contacts her soon-to-be sister Brooke (Gerwig)

Sphero’s BB-8 Droid Preview & Where To Buy It

Here is Sphero’s remote control BB-8 droid . This is going to be the HOTTEST toy of the year. Sphero’s BB-8 isn’t a toy so much as it is a very simple robot performer with Pixar-esque aspirations. The $149.99 droid will go on sale starting this Friday at Apple’s retail stores, Best Buy, and Sphero’s own website (don’t worry, it’s Android compatible, too). The plaything, expected to be priced around $150, is among the litany of Star Wars: The Force Awakens products being revealed as part of the “Force Friday” merchandise announcement, which spans everything from LEGO kits to Hasbro action figures and even pet toys. (That is, toys that your pet plays with.) Watch him in action after the Jump... Sphero’s BB-8 is a different kind of pet toy, an action figure that seems like a lovable creature. (And will probably make your actual pets feel neglected and jealous.) The ball droid character, which was first glimpsed last November in the movie’s teaser trailer , tearing ac
