Marital mysteries are unearthed in lightweight indie. Review by Brandon Wolfe Tim and Lee (Jake Johnson and Rosemarie DeWitt) are a young couple with an adorable three-year-old son. Tasked with housesitting for one of Lee’s wealthy clients, the family takes up temporary residence in a luxurious home in the hills, a quiet respite where they can enjoy some peace, giving Tim the opportunity to tackle the family’s taxes free from distraction. Eager to shirk that tedious chore, Tim explores the woods adjacent to the house and finds a rusty old revolver and a curiously human-looking bone. He wants to grab a shovel to see what else might be buried out there. Lee just wants him to do the damn taxes instead of engaging in creepy amateur archaeology. Here an update of the Neill Blomkamp’s new ALIEN movie. Bloody Disgusting is reporting.. “Alien 5 is still very much in the works, as Fox remains hot on the idea. Blomkamp continues to work on the script (only an outline existed previously) and refine the tale he is telling. Ridley Scott is still producing, but has insisted on Prometheus 2 being made first.” PROMETHEUS 2 may start production next year and then we’ll see about Blomkamp’s new ALIEN movie which he is currently writing. Blomkamp’s ALIEN will pay respect to “ Alien 3 ″ and “ Alien Resurrection ” instead of completely ignoring them, at least that what Blomkamp promised,.. there are many promises here but it’s still uncertain where his new ALIEN movie will fit in the series. According to Variety Anne Hathaway has signed on to star in the limited series “The Ambassador’s Wife,” from Entertainment One and the Mark Gordon Co. Project is based on the newly released novel by author Jennifer Steil about a British woman who is kidnapped in Yemen, setting off an ordeal for her and her ambassador husband. The project is the most high-profile TV effort to come from Mark Gordon Co. since he set up shop in July with eOne in an effort to build a mini film and TV studio. Entertainment One will finance “Ambassador’s Wife,” which will make the starry package even more of a hot property when it is shopped to TV and digital outlets. There’s no word yet about a writer for the TV adaptation. Hathaway will also serve as a producer on the series. “ Ambassador’s Wife ” continues a trend of limited series attracting top-flight movie stars for TV productions that don’t come with the same open-ended commitment as a traditional series. THR is reporting Lantica Media and Sobini Films are partnering up for the feature project that plans to shoot in 2016. The film project about a futuristic Zorro has found new life with a partnership between Lantica Media and Sobini Films. Lantica, the media company led by CEO Antonio Gennari that works in production and financing as well as studio space, will finance the movie with a plan to begin principal photography March 2016 in Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios. Veteran producer and Sobini CEO Mark Amin, whose credits include Good Kill and Frida, will produce the film. Pantelion Films will handle international sales with sales launching at the Toronto Film Festival. Zorro Reborn is a post-apocalyptic take on the myth of Zorro, the pulp hero created in 1919. The NWA biopic registers the fourth largest August bow while Man From U.N.C.L.E. gets taken out. Story by Matt Cummings Straight Outta Compton delivered solid box office numbers over the weekend, crushing its competition with $60.2m. Led by strong word of mouth and solid reviews, the biopic about rap group NWA including a very strong $24.12m Friday on its way to the fourth largest opening for an August film. These numbers are all the more impressive when you consider it did not play either in 3D or at any IMAX - that privilege went to The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Although its 'A' rating from CinemaScore and impressive 96% audience score from Flixster should bode well for its immediate future, the film will most likely endure for another reason: the lack of strong candidates remaining for the month. Universal revised its opening figure up as the musical biopic grabbed a big slice of the audience. Turns out that Straight Outta Compton did even better at the North American box office this weekend than Universal originally estimated. While the studio predicted a weekend box office of $56.1 million on Sunday morning, on Monday it revised that number to a whopping $60.2 million. The film opened to $24.1 million on Friday, including its Thursday night screenings; it corralled $19.3 million on Saturday and took in an extra $16.8 million on Sunday. The film now stands as the fifth best August opening ever, narrowly surpassing M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs, which opened to $60.1 million in 2002. Deadline is reporting that   Warner Bros. is at it again — but this time it’s animated. The studio is planning an ani feature based on the beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoon with producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, who reunite after American Hustle . The studio is also planting its flag for a September 21, 2018 opening. This one will be directed by Tony Cervone, who has a long affiliation with the company with Space Jam, Cartoon Network’s The Looney Tunes Show and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. The film, a favorite childhood Saturday morning series, had prior live-action treatments with Scooby Doo in 2002 and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed in 2004, courtesy of Roven and Suckle.
