First Look Photo Of Matthew McConaughey In THE FREE STATE OF JONES

First look photo of Matthew McConaughey in STX Entertainment's epic action-drama THE FREE STATE OF JONES . Set during the Civil War, The Free State of Jones tells the story of defiant Southern farmer Newt Knight, and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy. Banding together with other small farmers, and with the assistance of local slaves, Knight launched an uprising that led Jones County, Mississippi to secede from the Confederacy, creating a Free State of Jones. His marriage to a former slave, Rachel, and his subsequent establishment of a mixed race community was unique in the post-war South. Knight continued his struggle into Reconstruction, which distinguished him as a compelling, if controversial, figure of defiance long beyond the War. Relax, Fellas. Dudes Are Also Getting a Ghostbusters

Bustin’ to make guys feel good again. By Brandon Wolfe Opponents to the recently announced female-driven Ghostbusters reboot (who have been nothing if not a perfectly reasonable and gentlemanly lot) can take solace in the news that Sony is also producing a male-centric Ghostbusters film as a companion piece to Paul Feig’s film. The studio has launched Ghostcorps, a production shingle headed up by original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and star Dan Aykroyd, and plans are in the works to trap a lot of promising talent into the project’s proton stream. Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Civil War , recently signed a first-look deal at Sony and are looking to direct and produce this latest Ghostbusters , with Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible 5 scribe Drew Pearce writing the script. Channing Tatum is also attached as a producer, with an eye to star in the film. “We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways

Blue Bloods S05E17 Recap: Occupational Hazards

To Trust Or Not To Trust Story by David Clark Blue Bloods this week focused on: Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan), Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan), Donnie Wahlberg (Det. Danny Reagan), Will Estes (Officer Jamie Reagan), Vanessa Ray (Officer Eddie Jenko), Marisa Ramirez (Det. Maria Baez), and guest starring David Shumbris (John Johanssen) and Phyllis Somerville (Beth). Occupational Hazard was a fitting name for this episode though a name like Momentum might have suited it even better. The episode opens with a slow conversation between Commissioner Frank Reagan and his granddaughter. Once the episode lulls the audience into believing it is another slow episode the explosions, shootouts, and mayhem take center stage. This week’s episode was themed with an ethical quandary. Is it healthier to assume the best of people and risk being disappointed or is it safer to assume the worst from people and leave room for surprise? This was highlighted most emphatically when Commissioner

Spielberg and Trevorrow Looking Ahead To Next Project

Collaboration Continues With “Intelligent Life” Story by David Clark Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow , the brains behind Jurassic World, are teaming up again on a new project titled Intelligent Life. At this time details are still limited but it would appear that Spielberg and Trevorrow have developed a solid working relationship and want to carry that into a new intellectual property. What is known about the movie thus far falls within the science-fiction genre and is loosely based upon an incomplete Trevorrow project titled The Ambassador. How true the new movie will be to this earlier project is still unclear. The Ambassador was never made but the plot involved an alien first-contact specialist who falls in love with a unique woman who is not of this world. Originally planned as a sequel to his successful indie movie Safety Not Guaranteed , Intelligent Life will likely be quite a departure from Jurassic World for Spielberg and Trevorrow. Other indivi

DVD Review: The Wrecking Crew

The Truth Behind The Music Review by David Clark Eras of music like the east coast swing of the 40’s, to the New Orleans Jazz of the 50’s, through the Rock craze of the 60’s, have transcended time and left their imprint on the world of music to this day. It does not matter if a person was born in the 1920’s or the 1990’s, they have heard the names of groups like The Monkees, Sonny and Cher, or Sinatra. To this day modern music is still grounded in and borrows from the riffs, bass lines, and melodies from those decades. Artists in the music industry often point to musical heroes from those years as their inspirations. There are names from the 1940’s-1960’s that people today do not know. Names that were so important in the music industry they changed the way music was played. Yet, ask around today about Hal Blaine, Tommy Tedesco, Carol Kaye, or Plas Johnson and people will likely scratch their heads in confusion. The documentary titled The Wrecking Crew published in 20

March 2015 Films On Our Radar

What does the March box office have in store for us? We pontificate in our On the Radar Preview. Story by Matt Cummings January 2015 was filled so many interesting titles that no one apparently wanted to see, prompting us on a recent Inside the Bucket podcast to wonder why that month landed with such a thud. When February rolled around, we weren't exactly impressed with the plate Hollywood had placed before us, hence the reason why we didn't present a Preview article. Apparently all of you felt the same. February was the lowest since in terms of box office performance since 2006 ($533.2), with 50 Shades of Grey 'leading' before literally melting away after a strong opening. And yet, the box office is up 10%, for a variety of reasons that could repeat in 2016 if distributors have learned their lesson. March has also traditionally been a weak month, as evidenced by less-than-stellar numbers during the last four years: 2014: $741.2 (-24.9% from 2013) 201
