TV Review: 24: Live Another Day “8:00 PM – 9:00 PM”

TV Review: 24: Live Another Day “8:00 PM – 9:00 PM” By: Brandon Wolfe The ‘24’ writing staff is pretty much set in their ways. They know their formula inside and out and adhere to it as if their very lives depend upon it. In the series’ original run, this rigorous sameness grew wearying. In ‘Live Another Day’, it has mostly been fine, even welcome, like revisiting an old friend who hasn’t let the years away change him one bit. But the sole aspect that marks this event series as a deviation from the original series is in its length, 12 episodes versus the usual 24. With the Al-Harazi threat neutralized and defenestrated last week, this is the precise point where ‘24’ would be gearing up for the next big thing that will act as the primary focus for the next ten or so hours, and that is indeed what happens in “8:00 PM – 9:00 PM” when the override device is used to successfully order an American military sub to launch a strike against a Chinese aircraft carrier. This is huge, an eve

Horrible Bosses 2 Teaser Is Here

Horrible Bosses was a solid hit for Warner Bros. back in 2011, and the studio has been quick to reassemble stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis , despite busy schedules, for more malicious madness. The teaser trailer for the comedy sequel is now online. Directed this time by That’s My Box/ Sex Drive man Sean Anders, working alongside regular co-writer / producer John Morris from their script, Horrible Bosses 2 finds Kurt (Sudeikis), Dale (Day) and Nick (Bateman) launching their own business, but falling afoul of a dodgy investor (Christoph Waltz). Their boneheaded solution to this new problem? Kidnapping, which also involves the man’s son (Chris Pine). There’s not much of the new plot in this first quick look at the film, as it’s more focused on return engagements for original horrible bosses Dave Harken, now in prison, but still played by Kevin Spacey , and Julia Harris, the ever-horny dentist played by Jennifer Aniston . Oh, and Jamie Foxx’s “crime consultant”

For aspiring comedian Donna Stern, everyday life as a female twenty-something provides ample material for her incredibly relatable brand of humor. On stage, Donna is unapologetically herself, joking about topics as intimate as her sex life and as crude as her day-old underwear. As she grapples with an uncertain financial future, an unwanted pregnancy, and a surprising new suitor, Donna begins to discover that the most terrifying thing about adulthood isn’t facing it all on her own. It's allowing herself to accept the support and love of others. And be truly vulnerable. Never failing to find the comedy and humanity in each awkward situa

July 2014 Movies on Our Radar

Horror and Science Fiction dominate a busy July. From a release perspective, June 2014 was an odd month in terms of releases. What started with exceptional dare (Edge of Tomorrow) became mostly flled with the blah (Jersey Boys) and the boisterously long (Transformers: Age of Extinction). WIll July get us back on track? Fans of Science Fiction and Horror have some promising fare, even if they don't deliver on a strictly monetary value. The schedule features possession, an angry ape, an entire angry murderous people, and a woman who's about to get a huge upgrade. Deliver Us From Evil (July 2nd) Plot: NY police officer Ralph Sarchie investigates a series of crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest, schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the possessions that are terrorizing their city. Director: Scott Derrickson Starring: Eric Bana Why We're Interested: While we're not really impressed with the “based on a true story” subtitle, we
