TV Review: 24: Live Another Day “5:00 PM – 6:00 PM"

TV Review: 24: Live Another Day “5:00 PM – 6:00 PM” By: Brandon Wolfe Jack Bauer’s propensity toward torturing suspects for information became one of his defining character traits during the original run of ‘24’, and contributed to the ugly national discussion that took place all throughout the George W. Bush era about torture’s place in counterterrorism. The show always seemed to insist that Jack did not want to be doing the horrible things he did in the name of national security, but that he felt it was what needed to be done given the time constraints and millions-will-die stakes he was perpetually up against. Yet still, the guy defaulted to torture so often and so immediately that one couldn’t help but suspect that maybe, just maybe, he got off on hurting bad people, even if it was something he would never admit, either to himself or anyone else. So when Jack finally climbs back on the torture horse in “5:00 PM – 6:00 PM” to squeeze the bloody little stump where Simone Al-Ha

TV Recap: Game of Thrones "The Watchers on the Wall"

TV Recap: Game of Thrones "The Watchers on the Wall" By: Sue Sam and Jon sit on the wall, gazing over, waiting for what they know is coming. Sam asks what it was like. Jon tells him that she had red hair, but that isn’t what Sam meant. Sam wants to know what it was like to love someone, since that’s the closest he’s going to get with them dying soon and all. Jon asks if he ever had relations with Gilly but he didn’t. Sam points out that there are many parts of their vows, but lying with a woman is not one of them, but it doesn’t matter because they didn’t actually do anything. Jon tries ineloquently to describe what it was like being with Ygritte and fails miserably. He sends Sam down to get some sleep, taking the watch all to himself. A owl flies to the top of the wall. The Warg is watching them. Tormound tells a tale around the fire about sleeping with a bear. Ygritte doesn’t want to think about the bear he didn’t sleep with. She’s more concerned with her arrows, an

The Fault In Our Stars Rules The Box Office

It was a battle of romance vs. sci-fi this weekend at the American box office, and love really did conquer all, as The Fault In Our Stars soundly trounced Edge Of Tomorrow in the quest for the top of the charts. With Fault novel writer John Green’s impressive social media following and the presence of rising star Shailene Woodley in the lead driving interest, The Fault In Our Stars drew fans of the book and the actress in droves, front-loading attendance for a result of $48.2 million this first weekend alone. That means the movie has already taken in four times the amount it cost to make, and shows no sign of slowing down despite a drop between Friday and Saturday, with audiences giving it a healthy thumbs up, which indicates it’ll have positive word of mouth appeal. It’s also yet more clear proof that films driven by women in front of the camera and in the audience can be hugely successful, especially when you consider that Fault deposed Angelina Jolie and Maleficent from the

Neighbors Sequel On The Way?

Neighbors producers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen mentioned at the Produced By conference that they’re still taking a lot of meetings about a sequel to their hit summer comedy, which is on the verge of hitting $220 million worldwide, but it’s still undetermined whether they will move forward. In the meantime, they are trying to get the project Jazz Cops off the ground, a starring vehicle for Rogen and Kevin Hart , about two cops during the 1950s trying to infiltrate the jazz scene. A bulk of their conversation, along with fellow producing partner James Weaver who first started with Rogen as an assistant on Funny People, was devoted to the lessons they’ve learned while writing, directing and producing their comedies. After working on The Green Hornet, the trio learned — big budget isn’t everything. Too much red tape, too many parties to contend with. After enjoying the buffer from the studios on their Judd Apatow productions, i.e. Knocked Up, Superbad and Pineapple Express, Weaver
