BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Jeremy Renner Confirms He's Doing Mission: Impossible 5

He will team up again with Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg. According to multiple sources, Actor Jeremy Renner has confirmed that he will reprise his role of Agent William Brandt in Mission: Impossible 5 . He will re-join with Actors Simon Pegg and Tom Cruise for the December 25, 2015 release. The news came as it sometimes does, through denial of a possible casting in another project. The project he denied involvement was HBO's True Detective . Here's what he said: "It's kind of unlikely. In fact, I'm kind of strapped time-wise doing Avengers 2, and Mission: Impossible 5 is rearing its head, and then they want to do another Bourne movie. It's unlikely I can find the time right now. And that's all right. It's just really high-class problems — pretty awesome to have. Even if I really wanted to do it, which I don't, I couldn't." This is great news for those of us who enjoyed Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol ( and we did ). It'

Guillermo del Toro Writing Pacific Rim 2

The director is collaborating with Zak Penn on a script. Before Godzilla arrived and smashed up the box office, a little film called Pacific Rim gave us tantalizing clues as just how cool a kaiju movie could be. The movie made about $190 million domestically, $411m worldwide, and enjoyed good DVD sales of just over $47m. Therefore, it seemed logical that a sequel would arrive, and now we have just such a confirmation. According to an interview given at the Austin premiere of the FX television show The Strain , Del Toro spoke about the script, saying the following: "I'm working very, very hard with Zak Penn. We've been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around. Travis Beacham [co-writer of the first film, now working on Fox's 'Hieroglyph'] was involved in the storyline and now I'm writing with Zak because Travis has become a TV mogul." You'll remember that Del Toro collaborated with Travis Beacham on

Doctor Strange News. Tom Hardy & Benedict Cumberbatch Interested?

So how about Doctor Strange ? Marvel is putting together its cast list, and Deadline is reporting that Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch are on it. While Marvel has teased this property with mentions in films including Captain America: The Winter Soldier , the film solidified and felt urgent when Scott Derrickson tweeted this week that he will direct the script by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. The character has been around since the early 1960s, during that crazy period where just about all the spandex-clad heroes in all the Hollywood blockbusters were hatched at Marvel Comics headquarters (that might be a movie). Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created the character in 1963 as a neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, protecting Earth against magical and mystical threats with powers of sorcery, mysticism, and martial arts. Marvel’s Kevin Feige is producing. These two guys aren’t the only ones in the mix, but let’s face it, they are both poised to become major

A Medusa Film Is On It's Way

Sony Pictures Animation had some success in 2012 exploiting supernatural creatures for comedy with Hotel Transylvania . A sequel is already in the works, and the company has decided to stick with unusual leading characters, picking up a pitch focusing on the mythical Medusa and hiring My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic cartoon series creator Lauren Faust to direct it. Antz co-writer Todd Alcott and producer Holly Golden were behind the original comedy concept, which appears to be following the current trend for revisionist fantasy tales by exploring the genesis of the Greek monster. Our heroine will be a decent, beautiful young girl who annoys the wrong goddess. Turned into the snake-haired demon, she learns to embrace her differences. "I love the originality of it, the comedy take on Medusa,” Michelle Raimo-Kouyate, president of production at Sony Animation, tells The Wrap. “The minute I heard it, it felt ingenious and clever and funny.” While we’re not sure that the wh

Emma Watson & Miles Teller Head To La La Land

Writer/director Damien Chazelle has already enjoyed festival success with his indie pic Whiplash . He’s looking to follow that up with another tale of talented young folk struggling against the odds and wants Miles Teller and Emma Watson to star in La La Land . The film follows two dreamers looking to find fame in Los Angeles, who meet and discover a love connection. There’s aspiring actress Mia ( Watson , Chazelle hopes), who is lonely and trying to fit in to a confusing new city, and cocky, charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian ( Teller ), who learns that juggling a relationship and art in the unforgiving City of Angels is no easy task. Music will also play a big part of the movie, with Chazelle’s director’s statement describing his intent: ”I’d like to make a contemporary musical about LA, starting with the LA we know but slowly building to a vision of the city as romantic metropolis–one that is actually worthy of the dreams it inspires. I'd like to make a musical about the

Life Itself Review: Roger Ebert Would Be Proud

The poignant and powerful documentary about Roger Ebert separates the myth from the man. One of my earliest memories is sitting in front of a 13" black and white television in my bedroom, watching PBS' Sneak Previews with film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert raving about Christopher Reeve in Superman. We had never seen anything like this before, and the effect they would have on both the industry and moviegoers was profound. The Steve James documentary Life Itself puts that into perspective, crafting a personal and powerful story that's at once difficult to watch but important in its message. Given unfettered access to what would be Ebert's final four months, James set out to record the life and times of Hollywood's most powerful film critic. The images of Ebert's last months are stunning: missing most of his jaw and confined to a wheelchair for long periods, he's undetermined and feisty as ever, joking with medical staff as they painfully d
