She will star in Camp X-Ray , a politically charged drama written and directed by Peter Sattler, and she will also star in the Olivier Assayas-directed Sils Maria . In Camp X-Ray , Stewart will play a young soldier who escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she isn’t going for a tour of duty in Iraq as she hoped. Instead, she’s sent to Guantanamo. Met with hatred and abuse from the Muslim men in her charge, she forges an odd friendship with a young man who has been imprisoned at Gitmo for eight years. " Vampire Diaries " star has joined the cast of action thriller “ The Anomaly .” Directed by Noel Clarke and written by Simon Lewis, “ The Anomaly ” follows the travails of a traumatized ex-soldier who wakes up in the back of a van alongside a kidnapped boy, to find that he only has only nine minutes and 37 seconds of consciousness to work out why and how he got there. Clarke is also producing and acting in “The Anomaly” alongside Brian Cox (“The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Luke Hemsworth (“Neighbours”) and Alexis Knapp (“Pitch Perfect,” “Project X”).
