BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Has Fifty Shades Of Grey Found A Director

After a lengthy search, Universal and Focus Features seem to be closer to starting production on their much-anticipated adaptation of “ Fifty Shades of Grey .” Several sources tell Variety that while no deal is in place, Joe Wright is the choice to helm the feature adaptation of the steamy E.L. James novel. Though some reports say Wright has not won the job, one insider very close to the production says he is the man. Universal had no comment. U, Focus and producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti had been looking for some time for a director who could bring prestige to a book described by many as “mommy porn.” It’s a tricky project since following the book closely would inevitably result in an commercially undesirable NC-17 rating, while going easy on the sensuous elements of the story could disappoint fans of the runaway bestseller that started as an e-book derived from “Twilight” fan fiction. The other directors considered for the job included “Monster” helmer Patty J

Pelé Movie On It's Way

If Goal didn't do it for you and you're still wrapping your head around the intricacies of Bend It Like Beckham , news of a Pelé movie will be like balm to your troubled, football-loving soul. Edison Arantes do Nascimento , the Brazilian superstar and arguably the greatest player to ever kick a goal, is getting the full biopic treatment in a movie that tracks his life from a poor upbringing in São Paulo to fame and glory as a 17 year-old superstar at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden. No doubt there'll also be plenty on his years in a Allied POW camp and his heroic performance against a Wehrmacht XI in Paris. Wait, that's Escape To Victory . Scratch that. The so-far untitled Pelé movie has a heavyweight production team, with Brian Grazer , veteran of truth-life stories like Rush, Frost/Nixon and J. Edgar , and Ivan Orlic, Kim Roth and Dany Wolf overseeing things. If you're in Cannes and have some spare cash, Exclusive Media International will be touting the p

First Look At James McAvoy From X-Men: Days Of Future Past

When he’s not napping in his trailer or, you know, directing the movie, Bryan Singer has been the source of a regular flow of pictures from behind the scenes of X-Men: Days Of Future Past . Today’s brings a retro-tastic look at James McAvoy ’s Charles Xavier. Serpico indeed! From the looks of this, Xavier will be hanging on to his locks for a while yet, and, given that the portion of the film featuring the First Class cast will be set in the 1970s, he’s gone for it, including a mane that would even impress Hugh Jackman ’s Logan. Days Of Future Past finds the X-team in real trouble in a dark alternate future where mutants are hunted down, put in internment camps or killed by the robotic sentinels. To stop this happening will require the efforts not only of the present-day team (including Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin and Daniel Cudmore ), but also the younger versions of some of them in the '70s (with McAvoy, Mi
