BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Jamie Foxx Is In Talks To Star In Annie

Jamie Foxx is in negotiations to star opposite Quvenzhane Wallis in Annie, the update of the classic comic strip-turned-musical that Sony is making with producers Will Smith and Jay-Z . Foxx would play a character named Benjamin Stacks , a variation of the Daddy Warbucks personage, who takes in the spunky orphan girl being played by Wallis . (You know he’s rich because his name literally means stacks of $100 bills, aka Benjamins.) The Django Unchained star has received an offer from the studio and sources say his team has begun to negotiate. Will Gluck is directing the project, which has a host of producers: Smith and his Overbrook Entertainment banner partner James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Jay-Z. Also producing are Jay Brown and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith through Marcy Media. Gluck recently revised a script by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna. Sony is eyeing a late fall production start for an anticipated 2014 release. Foxx already is proving to be a Sony favorite

Pacific Rim Extended Trailer Has Landed

Never let it be said that Guillermo del Toro – and his backers at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures – don’t listen to demands. Though the director announced at WonderCon that the Pacific Rim footage shown there would only be screened once more before release (at CinemaCon), he has heard the cries of the many and now the extended trailer is online for everyone to enjoy. The trailer lets Dr. Newton Geiszler (played in the film by Charlie Day ) explain a little more about the motives of the monstrous Kaiju – to whit, they first made landfall in San Francisco and began their attacks on population centres so as to take out the “vermin” (or "the human race" as we prefer to be called). Admittedly, given their actions, it's not exactly the most original theory, though Geiszler seems to think we should try to understand them. “Or we could just blow ‘em to pieces,” counters Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket ( Charlie Hunnam ). Guess which idea gets more play here? Yes, del Tor

Star Trek: The Next Generation- The Best of Both Worlds Review. At It's Best

Star Trek: The Next Generation- The Best of Both Worlds Review By: MattInRC Here's why The Best of Both Worlds represents Star Trek: The Next Generation at its very best. Fathom Event’s recent one-night showing of Star Trek: The Next Generation- The Best of Both World s takes us back to a heady day in Science Fiction television, marking an important historical period for both the franchise and the genre in general. Those of us who are old enough to remember its original screening in 1990 can’t help but smile: The Best of Both Worlds ranks as a top 10 – if not a top 2 – cliffhanger. Well-conceived and heavy on special effects, and complete with as gut-punch of a season finale as you could get, Worlds captivated an audience for an entire summer, as fans lamented about the fate of Captain Jean Luc Picard ( Patrick Stewart , X-Men) after his capture and alteration by the Borg. At that time, Trek was the only game in town. Fans of the genre, dying for anything set in deep spac

The Big Wedding Review. The Film Is A Train Wreck

The Big Wedding Review By: MattInRC The Big Wedding is somewhat funny, but offers nothing new.   Warning: major plot spoilers ahead. After the movie Defiance , my wife and I instituted the 30-minute rule for movies: if we didn't like it at the 30-minute mark, either one of us could pull the plug. Too bad we as critics can't do the same for theater duds like The Big Wedding . As wedding day arrives for couple Missy ( Amanda Seyfried , Les Miserables) and Alejandro ( Ben Barnes , Narnia: Dawn Treader), Alejandro's separated parents Don ( Robert DeNiro , Goodfellas) and Ellie ( Diane Keaton , Morning Glory) must pretend to be married again to appease the boy's biological mother and devout Catholic. Don and Ellie's biological children Jared ( Topher Grace , Ocean's Eleven) and Lyla ( Katherine Heigl , Knocked Up) have their own relationship problems, as one has just left her boyfriend and the other remains a virgin whose reasons are a mysterious
