BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

TRANCE Review. Pushes Every Boundary Imaginable And A Terrific Sense Of Style

TRANCE Review By: MattInRC Does the psychological thriller TRANCE prove itself a worthy affair, or does it need more time in therapy? After a quick start, the movies of 2013 continue to impress, establishing themselves as some of the strongest in recent memory. From extraordinary action/dramas to enjoyable if predictable comedies and good horror, we've seen a diverse collection to be sure. And although audiences have largely stayed away, it certainly hasn't been due to a lack of quality. At the very edge of the commercial spectrum is Trance, a film that pushes about every boundary imaginable with well-crafted precision and a terrific sense of style. When an art heist in London goes bad, the players gather to figure out why their inside man Simon ( James McAvoy , X-Men: First Class) hid the painting rather than delivering it. Front-man Franck ( Vincent Cassel , Black Swan) wants his painting, as its high price will pay off the high debt which the gambler Simo

James McAvoy Gets Filthy In This Trailer

DO NOT WATCH THIS TRAILER AT WORK!! James McAvoy has recently been getting in touch with his Scottish roots onstage in Macbeth, but he's gone full Glaswegian* onscreen in Filth, as the violent, drink-addled, drug-addicted, thoroughly reprehensible Bruce Robertson, the protagonist of Irvine Welsh's story. And you can see just how far he's gone to the bad in this trailer, which is not safe for work so we've put it at the bottom of the page in case your boss looks over your shoulder. The plot sees McAvoy's corrupt, bigoted cop up for promotion, and determined to do everything possible (which in his case is quite a lot) to block the path of rival Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell) and his other colleagues. That's when he can spare time from his busy drinking / screwing / drug-snorting schedule, of course. The film also stars Eddie Marsan, Jim Broadbent, Joanne Froggatt, Shirley Henderson, Kate Dickie and Imogen Poots , and is directed and adapted by Jon S. Baird.

42 Review. Spirited And Uplifting

42 Review By: MattInRC 42 is a powerful and feel-good account of the first black player to join the Major Leagues. As a long-time fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers , I cannot help but be proud of the team's heritage. Among the best of these boasts is the story of first baseman Jackie Robinson , whose historic signing by executive Branch Rickey in 1947 lead to a smashing of the color barrier in Major League Baseball. And while several movies have tried to tell Robinson's story (including one starring the athlete himself), none have come as close as this week's release of 42 , a spirited and uplifting surprise in every way. As World War II ends and baseball's heroes return from active duty to renew the National Pastime, Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey ( Harrison Ford , Blade Runner) makes a monumental decision: it is time to bring the first black player into the league. Although blacks served and died in the war, respect in peacetime has been

CW's ARROW To Have A Special DC Guest In Season 2?

" Arrow " is wrapping up its successful first season while planting seeds for its next one. Colton Haynes and Manu Bennett have signed on for season two, ensuring that fans will be seeing a lot more of Roy Harper and Slade Wilson next year. The last few episodes have also also raised the profile of characters like the Huntress, Shado and the Count. Now executive producer Marc Guggenheim has teased via Twitter that another DC Comics character may be popping in for a visit. Check out the tweet below. The " Kord " in Kord Industries refers to Ted Kord, perhaps better known as the second Blue Beetle. Kord joined the DC Universe after the 1986 event "Crisis On Infinite Earths." He then became a much beloved member of the Justice League in "Justice League International" and its various other incarnations between the late '80s and much of the '90s. It's definitely not an understatement to say that comic book fans (including the

DreamWorks Animation Nabs "Troll Dolls"

With an animated film based on the Troll doll toy franchise already in development, DreamWorks Animation has gone one step further and bought the entire brand, and has tapped American Girl veteran Shawn Dennis to oversee the brand for the toon studio. Deal with the Dam Family and Dam Things of Denmark now makes DreamWorks Animation the exclusive worldwide licensor of merchandise rights for the Trolls, except for Scandanavia, the birthplace of the characters, where Dam Things will remain the licensor. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. DWA first brokered the film rights for a Trolls movie in 2010. Dennis will focus on relaunching the Trolls brand worldwide and introducing them to a new generation of kids. “Trolls is a brand with over fifty years of deep heritage and we are thrilled to bring this iconic, multi-generational property to DreamWorks Animation,” said chief operating officer Ann Daly. “We have big plans for this franchise and Shawn Dennis is uniquely sui

Something Important Will Be Missing From MAN OF STEEL

With the new issue of Entertainment Weekly comes a welter of new MAN OF STEEL images, and also an intriguing snippet of new information. There's already, controversially, not a pair of red pants to be seen, but now we learn there'll also be narry a trace of kryptonite in the film. Given that the glowy green substance is Superman's only weakness, what on Earth is going to make him in any way vulnerable enough for any Zod-fearing drama? "I'll be honest with you: there's no Kryptonite in the movie," director Zack Snyder tells EW. Henry Cavill , donning the Supes cape, elaborates (slightly) that, "Although he is not susceptible to the frailties of mankind, he is definitely susceptible to the emotional frailties." Aw no, he's not going to be laid low by feelings, is he? But seriously, with three equally super-powered but considerably less sympathetic fellow Kryptonians to deal with in this film, Superman faces worse than a mere green roc

The Hangover Part III. The Final Trailer

As if you could forget, the Wolfpack is back. We've had one main trailer for The Hangover Part III and now here comes the second, which boasts some new footage and a proper idea of what the plot is about, beyond “the guys take a road trip.” It would appear that, in the wake of his father’s death (and even before) Zach Galifianakis ’ man-child Alan has gone off his meds, acting weirder than ever. Which is saying something, given that it’s Alan. So Pack pals Phil ( Bradley Cooper ), Stu ( Ed Helms ) and Doug ( Justin Bartha ) stage an intervention, aiming to whisk him off to rehab at New Horizons. Yet en route, they’re ambushed and cornered by John Goodman ’s vengeful villain, who is chasing Mr Chow ( Ken Jeong ) for stealing a hefty haul of cash. Holding Doug as hostage, Goodman sends the lads out to find Chow and bring him in, a mission that will take them to Tijuana and their old stomping ground of Las Vegas, among other places. So while all the ads so far have promised
