Beautiful Creatures Review By: MattInRC The surprisingly good Beautiful Creatures is everything Twilight wanted to be, but never could. Call me someone who doesn't bend to social trends, but I never understood the obsession with Twilight: poorly cast and written for 5 year-olds, Kristen Stewart mumbled, stumbled, and put us to sleep before starring in real movies like Snow White and The Huntsman . Thankfully, I never read the books, but they couldn't have been as bad as one of the most disappointing film franchises in history. Now that its sun has gratefully set, we can all now seek more intelligent fare, and Beautiful Creatures might just be the thing. Now they’ve reunited – and pulled in Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard – for revenge thriller DEAD MAN DOWN . Farrell plays Victor, the right hand man to an underground New York crime lord ( Howard ). When he’s spotted killing on the job by Rapace’s damaged Beatrice, she reaches out to him. See, she’s been the victim of one of Howard’s actions and she’s burning with vengeance. So she blackmails Victor (who has his own reasons to be angry with Howard) and has him start to take down his boss’s operations. Hugh Laurie is in negotiations to play the villain in Tomorrowland , Disney’s top secret sci-fi project starring George Clooney and being directed by Brad Bird . The plot of the movie project, which until a couple of weeks ago was being called 1952 , is under lock and key, though it has been described as being in the vein of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Steven Spielberg’s 1978 movie about a man searching for extra-terrestrials on Earth. All that is known about Laurie’s character is that he serves as the movie’s antagonist. Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof co-wrote the script with Jeff Jensen, an editor at Entertainment Weekly. The pedigree of Bird and Lindelof, their standing in the geek community and the force field of secrecy enveloping the project have raised interest in Tomorrowland. Forget War Machine , this is Iron Patriot . Both are played by / operated by / essentially are Don Cheadle's character, James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes, but in Iron Man 3 his armour's been given both an upgrade and a flash new stars and stripes paint job. Where the sparks are from is a mystery, what weapon that is on his back unclear - something machine gun-like is a safe bet - but it's good to see that the former War Machine is going to get in on the action in Shane Black's upcoming comic-book threequel. The movie, of course, finds Robert Downey Jr’s billionaire playboy philanthropist up to his metallic neck in trouble as he’s targeted by the Mandarin ( Ben Kingsley ) and other nasty types intent on taking him down a peg or 15. Warner Bros has picked up the rights to an episode of Channel 4's Black Mirror to translate into a sci-fi thriller that will be produced Robert Downey Jr . and his Team Downey banner. The studio has acquired the rights to the episode The Entire History of You and will use the original episode's technology as a jumping off point for a feature adaptation. The episode of the British anthology show centers on a man with an implant that allows him to record and re-watch all of his life experiences. He begins to suspect his wife is having an affair and obsessively tries to find evidence until the relationship falls apart. For the film version, the story will be set in a near future where technology that allows users to re-experience past events, and follow a man who reconstructs his relationship to his dead wife - from her point of-view - and unknowingly uncovers a vast conspiracy.
