Quentin Tarantino On Luke Cage Film. What Could Have Been

In a parallel universe, Quentin Tarantino directed a Luke Cage comic book movie, with Laurence Fishburne as the titular Hero For Hire and the film coming out at around the same Pulp Fiction did in our version of reality. Alas - or, rather, fortunately - in reality he made his narrative-bending masterpiece instead, but there was a time where QT was definitely considering it, as he revealed to MTV.com  in this video (which, annoyingly, only US residents will be able to see). If you're from somewhere else in the world, here's a transcript of what the Django Unchained director had to say about the might-have-been Marvel adaptation: "After Reservoir Dogs , I had considered doing a Luke Cage, Hero For Hire movie. [Producer] Ed Pressman owned the rights at that time, and we talked about it. I talked to Larry Fish [ Laurence Fishburne ] about being Luke Cage, and he really liked that idea. Then I ended up writing Pulp Fiction. " Any chance he'd go back to th

PAIN & GAIN Trailer Is Here To Pump You Up

Paramount and Michael Bay have delivered the trailer for PAIN & GAIN . Let's see if your pumped after seeing this trailer. And yes there are explosions in the movie. You’ve got to feel a little sorry for Wahlberg – he’s admirably bulked and toned here, but standing next to The Rock , even when he’s crouching, just makes anyone look a little less impressive.11 Pain features the duo as Floridian body-builders who get embroiled in a web of kidnap and extortion that also drags in folks played by Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Ken Jeong, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry and supermodel Bar Paly (because what’s a Bay film without a supermodel these days?) The story of the crime that goes badly wrong for all involved sounds a little too good to be true, but it’s real all right – Captain America scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely based their script on Pete Collins’ 1999 articles in the Miami New Times. Samuel L. Jackson Will Fly A "Kite"

In his time, director David R. Ellis has helmed Final Destination 2, Cellular, Shark Night and, um, Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco , but now he's got the toughest challenge of his career ahead of him: adapting the furiously violent and much-loved anime Kite into a live-action Hollywood thriller. Aiding him in his quest is Samuel L. Jackson , who previously worked with Ellis on Snakes On A Plane back in 2006. Jackson announced his involvement with the project while on promotional duties for Django Unchained , where he mentioned to Movies.com  what he had on his slate after the RoboCop remake wraps. "After [ RoboCop ], I'm going to do this live-action version of Kite , the Japanese anime," he said. "I'll be doing a live-action version of that in Johannesburg." Released in two parts before being edited together as a 60-minute piece for the US market, the 1998 anime told the tale of an orphaned schoolgirl called Sawa who sets about fi

Noomi Rapace Joins Animal Rescue

Fox Searchlight's adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Animal Rescue is gathering speed, with Noomi Rapace strongly tipped to be joining Tom Hardy on the production. The movie, an adaption of Lehane's own short story from crime anthology Boston Noir, will see the pair heading to Lehane's bleak but brilliant world for fun, good times and brutal, bloody moider. If he signs up, Hardy will play a solitary barkeep who rescues a puppy but soon finds himself in a jam, caught up with the pup's loco former owner and a crime syndicate run out of his bar. No word on what Rapace's part would be, but we're assuming that she's not the pup's loco former owner. Animal Rescue is Lehane's first screenwriting credit. Bringing the story to life behind the camera, meanwhile, will be Bullhead director Michael R. Roskam. His debut feature punched in with potent drama and introduced Rust And Bone's Matthias Schoenaerts to Hollywood, scoring a Best Foreign Lan
