McG Lives In A Magic Castle

McG has come aboard to direct Radar Pictures' film based on the Magic Castle , the famed private magic club in Hollywood. The script is being written by Andrew Barrer and Gabe Ferrari; details of the story are being kept under wraps. The project is set up at 20th Century Fox, and Radar's Ted Field and Mike Weber are producing. Several notable venues have been the subject of Hollywood films. Disney turned its Haunted Mansion theme park ride into a 2003 family-oriented comedy thriller starring Eddie Murphy , while Fox has had much more success with its Ben Stiller franchise Night at the Museum , which began with the 2006 film set at the American Museum of Natural History. The Magic Castle sits at 7001 W. Franklin Ave., just west of Highland Avenue, near Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Dolby Theatre, home of the Academy Awards. The venue was turned into a private magic club in 1963 and is not open to the public (guests must be invited by a member). Nightly shows

Mark Wahlberg Is In Transformers 4

Never one to turn away a good chance for sneaky publicity, or indeed to lie to journalists’ faces when asked about plot developments on his upcoming films (*cough* Megatron in Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen *cough*), Michael Bay has now brought the saga of the will-he-won’t-he Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4 to a close with a resounding, er, yes. After shooting down rumors and then this week making references to “internet chatter” affecting him and “his writer” (Ehren Kruger), Bay revealed on his website that he intends to continue the bromance hatched working with Wahlberg on bodybuilding action comedy Pain And Gain . “Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain And Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his calibre is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay. So we’ll see the Ted star face down the Decepticons and help out Optimus Prime. Or whatever he ends up doing. The most recent

Tom Cruise In All You Need Is Kill Picture

Doug Liman has directed Vince Vaughn doing up his flies at the side of the road in Swingers and Matt Damon tearing up Paris in a conked out mini in The Bourne Identity , but there's nothing in his back catalogue quite like this new All You Need Is Kill pic: Tom Cruise running away from a massive explosion in a mech suit. For those not in the know, All You Need Is Kill is based on the critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by Japanese sci-fi author Hiroshi Sakurazaka, which sees its hero Lt. Col. Bill Cage ( Cruise ) forced to fight (and die) over and over again as contact with alien invaders (known as 'Mimics') traps him in a hellish time loop. This may strike some as being rather similar to the likes of Groundhog Day and Source Code (except, you know, with aliens), but as you can see from the astonishing pic above, there's a whole lot of sci-fi action to look forward to as well as the brain-bending time-wimey-ness. On hand to help Cage is Special For

Star Wars: Episode VII To Recruit Toy Story 3 Scribe?

The shocking and downright exhilarating news of Disney purchasing Lucasfilm and announcing new Star Wars adventures on the way did not come as a surprise to everyone. Within the two companies, negotiations had been going on for months. And George Lucas even said that he’d written outlines for at least three more films. Now we seemingly know who has turned them into a treatment for Star Wars: Episode VII and beyond… Toy Story 3’s Michael Arndt . Vulture , which is currently in the market for a place to unload many Bothan spy bodies, brings word that Arndt had quietly been hired to start cranking out the treatment long before the shockwave October 30 announcement. No official nod to the fact has been given, but Arndt is most certainly a good call. After winning an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine , he was recruited by Disney / Pixar to write the third Toy Story film and delivered something truly special. He’s also been at work on other projects, including the still untitled Pixa

James Bond Franchise Almost Died

On April 19, 2010, James Bond effectively died. After almost a year and a half of trying to get a new 007 film made while its parent studio, MGM , was spiraling toward bankruptcy, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson finally pulled the plug. That's when the London-based half-siblings issued a statement: "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development of Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume." Today, the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall , has opened to record numbers at the European box office and is drawing rave reviews from critics. It earned $287 million in its first 10 days, boding well for the picture's Nov. 9 debut in the U.S. Its success will add significantly not only to the franchise's value (which some estimate as high as $1.2 billion), but also to that of MGM, which co-owns Bond with Broccoli and Wilson and is expect
