E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Blu-Ray Review

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial   Blu-Ray Review By: MattInRC Make sure to follow MattInRC on Twitter for all his updates and reviews. The instant classic  E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial  arrives in a stunning Blu-ray release that's a must-have catalog release. There are few films in the pantheon of great ones that supplant  E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial .  Growing up when the film was released in 1982, I honestly ignored it as I took to the theaters to watch Blade Runner, the re-run of  Empire Strikes Back,  and played with my Star Wars figures.  To me,  E.T.  seemed neither deep enough nor dark enough for my tastes.  It wasn't until its recent release onto Blu-ray that I learned what all the fuss was about; and while I take nothing away from  Blade Runner  and its remarkable achievements, I can see why so many people revere  E.T.   The reasons are hard to pin down, but I think it offers that special blend of nostalgia from those who grew up in the 80's and 90's

Justice League Vs The Avengers Coming In 2015

While the success of The Avengers was certainly a firework under the rear ends of Warner Bros. and their plans to bring their DC Comics characters to the cinema, it hasn't been the smoothest process getting Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest teamed up for a Justice League film . But now, thanks to a legal victory over Krypton’s favourite son and some much-needed momentum, it appears Warners is ready to go head-to-head with Marvel, looking to get the League onto screens in 2015 , the same year as The Avengers 2 . Gangster Squad scriptwriter Will Beall has been plugging away since at least June and several possible directors, including Ben Affleck and the Wachowskis, have been thrown up in rumor stories. As regards the legal aspect, Warners scored a victory over the heirs of Superman's co-creator Joe Schuster yesterday, without which the studio would not have been able to make films, TV shows or comics featuring key elements of the characters mythos beyond next y

Shailene Woodley , who just booked the coveted role of Mary Jane in the Spider-Man sequel, is closing in on a deal to star in Divergent , Summit/Lionsgate’s adaptation of Veronica Roth’s YA novel. Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing, as is Pouya Shahbazian. Neil Burger is directing. The Divergent novel, published in May 2011 by Katherine Tegen Books, is set in a future society that is divided into factions based on human traits. Woodley will star as a 16-year old who leaves her group to join a rival faction and falls in love with a young man. Although she had been acting for years, Woodley caught the attention of most in Hollywood when she co-starred opposite George Clooney in Alexander Payne’s awards darling The Descendants. The rol

The CW's Arrow To Have Justice League Cameos?

The creators of The CW's Arrow have said time and time again that their number-one focus is to tell the story of Oliver Queen—but that doesn't mean they can't tell it with a big pile of DC cameos along the way. With the show a ratings hit, the producers seem to have loosened up about potentially seeing some Justice League members down the line. But how would Batman and Superman work in the world of Arrow ? Basically, they wouldn't be as "fantastical" as they've been portrayed in comics, cartoons and The CW's recent Smallville. Instead, producer Marc Guggenheim says they'd find a way to reimagine those characters and themes in this parallel universe: "You'll still hear about characters from those worlds and from those cities. We're imagining a DC universe without super-powered characters but that doesn't mean that in our parallel universe that there isn't a Metropolis or a Gotham City. There are references to places l
