After trying since 2008 to turn Vince Flynn’s bestselling novel series into an action franchise, CBS Films thinks it has found the actor to play terrorist hunter Mitch Rapp. CBS Films has offered Chris Hemsworth $10 million to star in American Assassin . While it is the 11th book in Flynn’s series of espionage novels, American Assassin is an ideal place to start a movie franchise. The novel is a prequel that explains how tragedy transformed Rapp from a college scholar and athlete into a ruthless hunter of terrorists for the CIA. Bruce Willis is also in talks, to play Rapp’s mentor. The film will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff , who has covered the terrorist hunting terrain directing episodes of Showtime’s Homeland and also helmed the Don Cheadle thriller Traitor. A new Gangster Squad poster has hit the web, serving as definitive proof that the Untouchables-like tale of off-the-books law enforcers in in 1940s and 1950s L.A. will be arriving in cinemas on January 11, 2013. For those not in the know, Gangster Squad was originally set for a September 7 release date this year, but in the wake of the 2012 Aurora shooting at the midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises , Warner Bros. and the Gangster Squad team decided to reshoot certain cinema-set scenes. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and is being directed by Oscar winner Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) The film tells the story of Jean Valjean, a former prisoner who becomes mayor of a town in France. Mandalay Vision and Vertigo Entertainment are in early talks with Ryan Reynolds to star in The Voices , a psychological thriller that will be directed by Marjane Satrapi from a script by Paranormal Activity’s Michael R. Perry. The script made the Black List, and Satrapi got an Oscar nom for Best Animated Feature for her first film Persepolis , adapted from her semi-autobiographical novel. Mandalay Vision is financing the film, and with Mandalay Vision’s Matthew Rhodes and Cathy Schulman are producing with Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Mandalay Senior Vice President Adam Stone. After Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III in 2001, there was meant to be, at some point, a Jurassic Park IV . Scripts were offered to Spielberg and then rejected numerous times, with William Monahan and John Sayles' effort working on the idea of dinosaurs-on-the-mainland combined with human/dinosaur hybrid soldiers that could use guns and carry out simple tasks. Now artwork has surfaced online that reportedly originates with ILM's Andrew Cawrse and concept artist Carlos Huante, revealing just how far down the pipeline this pretty outrageous idea went.
