BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

The Hobbit Comic-Con Panel Recap

Not one to do things by halves, Peter Jackson arrived in San Diego with a fellowship of friends – Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Philippa Boyens and Andy Serkis, plus Elijah Wood , who happened to be at Comic-Con promoting Tron: Uprising – as well a whopping 12 and a half minutes of footage. (After the mixed reception to the film’s look at April’s CinemaCon, this time Jackson opted for 24 frames per second and 2D.) Though the sequences were mainly drawn from the first Hobbit movie, An Unexpected Journey, there were also plenty of snippets from Part 2. The reel opened with a fun scene at Bag End, with the 13 dwarves taking advantage of Bilbo’s hospitality while discussing plans to invade the Lonely Mountain and take back their long-lost gold. “There is no way into the mountain,” grumbles Balin (Ken Stott). Gandalf begs to differ, producing an ancient key that will open a hidden door and explaining that “the task I have in mind will require stealth and a great deal of

Captain America 2 & THOR 2 Titles Reviled

You may have even noted their titles on the calendar – Thor 2 and Captain America 2 , respectively. Well, get out the Tipp-Ex, walk up to your calendar, and replace those with, again respectively, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier . The move away from a simple numbered sequel, given that Marvel are hard at work on Iron Man 3, is certainly intriguing, and helps foster the idea that these movies are part of a richer, grander universe filled with continuing stories and not just numbered instalments. The Thor title change tallies with suggestions made recently to Empire by Feige, indicating that the sequel will explore the seedier side of Asgard, Thor 2 is now known as Thor: The Dark World. It certainly hints at a new direction for the character and the series; the first film had its melodramatic moments, but by and large it was a romp. It will be interesting to see Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder grappling with darkness from within and without. The ti

Iron Man 3 Comic-Con Panel Recap And New Suit Image

Move over, Game of Thrones – last night at Comic-Con, Hall H became the real House Stark as Marvel unveiled a stunning reel of footage from Iron Man 3 . Not bad going for a film that’s only just started production. But then, showing footage from an Iron Man movie has already become something of a tradition, and good luck charm, for Marvel at Comic-Con. And with interest in Ol’ Shellhead never higher following Six Characters In Search Of A Shawarma Restaurant (or The Avengers, if we must be pedantic), the roof was in danger of obliteration as Robert Downey Jr . took to the stage, swaggering his way through the crowd like a rock star, Iron Man glove on one hand, a la Michael Jackson, and cued the footage… which provoked as many questions as it answered. Spoilers exist within, so be warned: On a day that began with the fairly controversial debut of Stark’s gold-and-red Mk VII I armour on the Comic-Con floor, it seemed somewhat apt that the clip should also kick off with it. And so it

ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT Review

ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT Review By: MattInRC Is ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT another fun addition to the franchise, or has the series gone the way of the woolly mammoth? Make sure to follow MattInRC on Twitter- When has a franchise outstayed its welcome? In general, people might point to the age of the actors, time between films, as well as when the series first debuted. I'd also add cultural relevance to that list. Rambo? Should have ended when Stallone got too old and we stopped fighting the Vietnamese. Rocky? See Rambo minus the Vietnamese. The longer a franchise runs, the greater the possibility that it fails to connect with audiences, ultimately damaging the product and leaving few prospects short of a reboot. Pirates of the Carribean and the original Planet of the Apes are excellent examples of Hollywood's outdated belief that bigger, louder, and more bizarre should be better. Aliens in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Really?? A genetic copy of Riple

Total Recall Comic-Con Panel Is Live

Here is the Total Recall Comic-Con panel via Rponcho . It will seem like you were there, but you didn't have to sleep overnight to get in. After bringing one, unfinished scene to Comic-Con’s Hall H last year, Len Wiseman and his Total Recall cast were back with a sizzle reel full of completed CG work, robot police officers and Kate Beckinsale really trying to kill Colin Farrell . Of course, she was a lot less violent on the panel and Wiseman definitely scored by bringing his other half, plus Farrell, Jessica Biel and consummate showman Bryan Cranston, who got one of the biggest reactions when he wanted to find out how the interpreter for the deaf people in the audience would sign “douchebag” when talking about his character, Cohaagen. The panel was a chatty, funny one, with Farrell tackling everything from filling Arnold Schwarzenegger’s big, BIG shoes and Cranston revealing how everyone in the cast slept with Wiseman to get the role. And Beckinsale was also able to bring u

Jessica Biel Cast As Viper In The Wolverine

Jessica Biel has been cast as Viper in 20th Century Fox‘s The Wolverine . The Victoria/Viper character has a long arc in the X-Men mythology and is a juicy role in the film. According to Marvel lore Viper bounces between good and not so good and she holds some sway over Wolverine but is mostly a foe to the X-Men and Avengers. It will be the second Marvel project for Biel, who also starred in 2004′s Blade: Trinity. She’s next up co-starring opposite Colin Farrell in Total Recall , which Sony is releasing August 3, and Pascal Laugier’s The Tall Man, due out August 31. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline
