Warner Bros. has tapped "Bridget Jones's Diary" scribe Andrew Davies to write " Beauty and the Beast ," a new take on the classic tale that Guillermo del Toro will not only produce, but also direct. WB's "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson is in final negotiations to topline the period pic. DiNovi Pictures' Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan will produce with del Toro, who will write a treatment that Davies will then work off of. Del Toro, who's currently filming "Pacific Rim" for WB and Legendary Pictures, is credited as a co-writer on both of WB's upcoming "Hobbit" movies. Jennifer Aniston is attached to star in Paul Andrew Williams' comedy drama Miss You Already. Being touted by Samantha Horley's The Salt Co., the script is written by Williams (Song for Marion) and British actress-writer-producer Morwenna Banks. The movie, which follows two lifelong friends whose friendship falls apart when one gets pregnant and the other becomes ill. This weekend at the New York Toy Fair, Mattel has finally announced the much anticipated release of the Hoverboard , a futuristic hovering skateboard that Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) used in the Back to the Future sequels. Back to the Future Hover Board: Finally ! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually “hover” – check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. While there, we got the latest on Beetlejuice 2 , the follow-up film the writer is involved with at Warner Bros and that Tim Burton will shepherd. Shock asked him for the latest on the project and to see how close the sequel was to becoming a reality. "It's a reality in the sense that I met with Michael Keaton last week," Grahame-Smith told us. "We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff. It's a priority for Warner Bros. It's a priority for Tim. Right now, I am writing an animated movie for Tim based on an idea of mine. Then I adapt Unholy Night [based on the upcoming book]. The third I am hoping is Beetlejuice in terms of writing schedule." The absurdly charming one-time Ghostbuster and Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd was in the Empire office today for a webchat, and as well as shaking the hand of everyone in the building (including a bewildered delivery man) and being an all-round hero, he also answered a few questions. As you might have guessed, a couple were about the much-talked-about Ghostbusters 3 , and here are some interesting tidbits about just that. [Talking about the reclusive Rick Moranis ] "If we can get the script to Ghostbusters 3 right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component. None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant." Even more intriguingly, Aykroyd hinted that Bill Murray may not return as Peter Venkman, and that the character could be played by a different actor, a la Jack Ryan. Its premise, about a future where all disease is cured, but life is now measured by how much ‘time’ you have accrued on your arm, is something right out of Gattaca. In fact, Andrew Niccol , who wrote and directed In Time , also wrote Gattaca . So, why does In Time fail to impress? Read on to find out.
