Via Vin Diesel's facebook page we get the first look at the Riddick Concept Art. While I was working on character, the Director and his team of artists have been creating the world and style of this picture. We all know how much I enjoy concept art and storyboards, haha, I am like a kid in a candy shop. Seeing the early stage of CGI is always fascinating to me, it is a element that usually comes together long after the filming process, so you look forward to seeing it fully realized. First stop for the Riddick production is Canada, which is where we shot a large part of Chronicles... P.s. I am grateful to have Universal in such support of this complex character's journey... not many studios would back an "R" rating. Very cool. The film is also one of this year’s pleasant surprises, considering the production was ridiculously fast for a big budget summer movie, many even thought it was doomed from the start because the adaptation significantly went astray from the comic book that it’s based on. It's official: Eddie Murphy will host the 84th annual Academy Awards , which ABC will broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 26. Brett Ratner and Don Mischer, who are producing the annual awards show, presented their choice on Tuesday to officials at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, who signed off on Murphy hosting. It will be the first time that Murphy, who shot to fame in the 1980s, first on Saturday Night Live, and then in movies like 48 Hrs. and Beverly Hills Cop, has hosted the show. Today we got our hands on the trailer for Melancholia. The film was written and directed by Lars von Trier, starring Kirsten Dunst , Alexander Skarsgård ,  Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kiefer Sutherland . The film begins with an introductory sequence, with a number of stylised images of the main characters as well as images from space. The end of the world is shown in the form of a collision between Earth and a larger planet. Melancholia is thereafter divided into two parts. In part one, called Justine, the young couple Justine and Michael are getting married at a castle, but the party is far from successful, as Justine's divorced parents, Dexter and Gaby, are openly fighting at the dinner. Justine herself is both alienated from her sister, her new husband, her boss and her parents. She drifts away from the party, and becomes increasingly sad and desperate during the night. With filming now delayed, as the production team waits out the weather in Japan and leading man Hugh Jackman heads off to star in Tom Hooper’s new version of Les Miserables , it seems that The Wolverine ’s director James Mangold is taking the opportunity to run the script through the re-write machine courtesy of Unstoppable’s Mark Bomback. As you’ll likely already be aware, the new outing for Logan will see the freshly amnesiac anti-hero looking for a place in the Japanese criminal underworld. There’ll he’ll find both love and problems, with the majority of the latter provided by the evil Silver Samurai . Like my friend Yara indicated.. 9 year old Zoe Saldana ’s character jumping from wall to wall like the Prince Of Persia or New Zealander Cliff Curtis who plays Zoe’s mentor, trying too hard to sound like Scarface‘s Tony Montana. That said, COLOMBIANA does have its appeals, mostly thanks to Zoe’s sexy, slick attitude but what we gotta keep in mind is that this is a Europacorp presentation, the force behind Transporter movies, Taken and From Paris With Love, basically a bunch of mindless actioners that don’t require much to enjoy..
