It's official: Eddie Murphy will host the 84th annual Academy Awards , which ABC will broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 26. Brett Ratner and Don Mischer, who are producing the annual awards show, presented their choice on Tuesday to officials at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, who signed off on Murphy hosting. It will be the first time that Murphy, who shot to fame in the 1980s, first on Saturday Night Live, and then in movies like 48 Hrs. and Beverly Hills Cop, has hosted the show. He has appeared as a presenter on several broadcasts, most recently in 2009 when he presented the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Jerry Lewis. Today we got our hands on the trailer for Melancholia. The film was written and directed by Lars von Trier, starring Kirsten Dunst , Alexander Skarsgård ,  Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kiefer Sutherland . The film begins with an introductory sequence, with a number of stylised images of the main characters as well as images from space. The end of the world is shown in the form of a collision between Earth and a larger planet. Melancholia is thereafter divided into two parts. In part one, called Justine, the young couple Justine and Michael are getting married at a castle, but the party is far from successful, as Justine's divorced parents, Dexter and Gaby, are openly fighting at the dinner. Justine herself is both alienated from her sister, her new husband, her boss and her parents. She drifts away from the party, and becomes increasingly sad and desperate during the night. As you’ll likely already be aware, the new outing for Logan will see the freshly amnesiac anti-hero looking for a place in the Japanese criminal underworld. There’ll he’ll find both love and problems, with the majority of the latter provided by the evil Silver Samurai . Takashi Miike ’s live-action version of Nintama Rantaro (Ninja Kids!!) is attracting remake interest from Hollywood, with negotiations reported to be already underway with a major production company. The film attracted attention in the U.S. and inquiries about distribution from around the world after screening at the New York Asian Film Festival at the beginning of July. The long-running manga and TV anime series – shown on public broadcaster NHK -- about a group of young trainee ninjas was adapted by the prolific Miike ( 13 Assassins ) and released in Japan last month. The movie stars 10-year-old Seishiro Kato, who has been ubiquitous in Japan in recent years, appearing in countless TV commercials, variety shows, dramas and movies.
