Anna Kendrick is in negotiations to star in Pitch Perfect , the Gold Circle romantic comedy set in the world of collegiate a cappella groups. Universal is distributing. The project will be directed by Jason Moore ( Avenue Q ) and is based on the nonfiction book written by GQ magazine's Mickey Rapkin. Rebel Wilson , one of the breakouts of Bridesmaids, is already cast in the project, which revolves around a goth-like and rebellious student ( Kendrick ), unhappy to be at a school at which her father is a professor, who discovers her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group. The role could serve a nice 180 for Kendrick, who has made a name for herself playing self-assured Type A personalities. She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Up In the Air , played the high-achieving human best friend of Bella in the Twilight movies and was last seen as the goal-oriented sister of Scott Pilgrim in Scott Pilgrim vs the World . After a long search process, 20th Century Fox and Bruce Willis have just chosen John Moore to direct Die Hard 5 . The film will shoot in Russia, and the hope is to make it before Willis moves on to shoot a Red sequel for Summit Entertainment. In fact, Willis has just begun going through the same director search with Summit on a sequel to the 2010 hit Red . Robert Schwentke is busy helming Universal’s R.I.P.D. with Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. They’ve just begun casting the dragnet for directors on that film. Names like Breck Eisner are being floated, but other shooters are being considered. As for Die Hard 5 , Moore is in final negotiations and was in the running through the entire search as Fox tried to find a filmmaker that pleased Willis and the studio execs that have to shoot this movie in Russia and bring it in on a budget and a tight schedule. Is the world ready for the return of the Biblical epic? Because it's coming. Darren Aronofsky has been in the news plenty in recent days with his ambitious Noah project while on a much more mainstream Hollywood front director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, The Day The Earth Stood Still) was attached earlier this year to direct Goliath for Relativity Media and Temple Hill Entertainment. If you're going to tell the story of the giant versus the shepherd boy you'd best find yourself an impressive giant and it would appear that Relativity have done just that with sources telling Twitch that they are now in talks with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to fill the role. As for the other side of the standoff things are not as advanced but word is that an offer has been made to Taylor Lautner to fill the part of David , which comes as no surprise given that Twilight producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are also involved in this project. The problem with OUR IDIOT BROTHER is that it probably should’ve been titled OUR BLABBERMOUTH BROTHER because at the end of the movie, you’d wonder if Ned’s ( Paul Rudd ) crime is that he’s an idiot or he’s just too truthful and naive, which then again could be considered idiocy by the world’s standard. AMC is taking a page out of last year's book, offering viewers an expanded premiere episode of The Walking Dead when it returns this October. The zombie drama will once again open its season with a 90-minute episode on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 9 p.m., kicking off the two-weeklong Fearfest. The supersized premiere will be aired internationally following the U.S. premiere. Following the premiere, six more episodes will air in the following weeks. But unlike the first season, which only featured six episodes, AMC will break out the second half of the season to air next year.
