Kevin Costner To Star In Django Unchained

Quentin Tarantino never has trouble putting together good casts for his films, but his Sergio Leone-style Spaghetti Western Django Unchained is turning out to be quite something. Kevin Costner is in negotiations to join a cast that is headed by Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio . Costner is in talks to play Ace Woody , and it's a real surprise turn for an actor most associated with good guy roles. He's the sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes. The club and ranch are owned by Calvin Candie ( DiCaprio ) and Ace Woody is the one who pits the "mandingo" fighters against one another, and has little qualms about mistreating and even killing the slaves who don't measure up. The roles that DiCaprio and Costner will play are every bit as sadistic as the one that Waltz played in Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds, and whi

2084 To Be 1984 Meets The Terminator

Alloy Entertainment is partnering with 24 showrunner Howard Gordon and writer-director James Wong for a sci-fi project titled 2084 . The project is being developed simultaneously as a film and a young adult book series, with HarperCollins buying the three-tome series. Gordon and Wong conceived the project, with the books being written by debut author Gregg Rosenblum. Gordon and Wong will also continue to work with Alloy and Rosenblum on the novels while developing the film with Alloy execs. Pitched as a sort of 1984 meets The Terminator, the story is set in the late 21st century, a time where robots, once created to aid humans and fight wars, now control the population’s every move. Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy will produce the film version, with Gordon and Wong serving as executive producers. Gordon is best known for showrunning 24, the real-time anti-terrorism thriller that was a staple on Fox for most of the 2000s. He also worked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer an

Tom Hardy Could Play Al Capone In "Cicero"

Though he’s currently busy causing trouble for Christian Bale’s Batman as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises , Tom Hardy is also thinking about future jobs. And one possibility has just arrived on the news radar, with word from Vulture that he’s apparently attached himself to Cicero , a story about the rise of Al Capone that has Harry Potter veteran director David Yates extremely interested. Details on Cicero were first announced back when Warner Bros. other mobster-focused drama, The Gangster Squad, was first beginning to come together. The script has been adapted by Wild Bunch (yes, the Peckinpah one) writer Walon Green from his own unused TV pilot. The basic plot finds a young Capone making his way up the criminal hierarchy. Warners is apparently considering this one as possibly launching a trilogy, one that follows Capone through his rise, along his reign and, ultimately to his downfall. Of course, everything is still at an early stage and neither Yates nor Hardy is locked in
