DOROTHY OF OZ Movie Poster & Comic Book To Be Revealed At Wonder Con

Fans of the beloved “Oz” franchise will get a glimpse of the Emerald City with the official unveiling of the DOROTHY OF OZ , limited edition comic book Saturday, April 2 at San Francisco’s 2011 WonderCon. The comic, produced by publishers IDW and Summertime Entertainment, is the first in a series of five progressive books carefully designed to bridge the gap from the classic L. Frank Baum “ Wonderful Wizard of Oz ” tale to the upcoming 2012 release of the animated DOROTHY OF OZ , based on the book by his great-grandson Roger Stanton Baum. “There’s a lot of overlap in the worlds of Oz-lovers and Comic book fans, so we figured this was an ideal medium to help set the story framework for where next year’s DOROTHY OF OZ film will begin,” said DOROTHY OF OZ Transmedia Producer James Jones. “The comic series will continue to reveal what happened in Oz once the wicked witch was gone, and its people fell under the control of a new menacing villain. Will David Fincher Direct Angelina Jolie In Cleopatra?

What has happened with Sony Pictures' plans to mount an exciting new biopic of Cleopatra , with Angelina Jolie attached as the Egyptian queen, based on Stacy Schiff's bestselling book Cleopatra: A Life ? I'm told the director conversation right now is with David Fincher , who just got a Best Director Oscar nomination working with Cleopatra producer Scott Rudin, and who is working with Rudin on the Stieg Larsson novel adaptation The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , also at Sony Pictures. I spoke to James Cameron in December and he let me know that he was not doing the film. until 20th Century Fox stepped up and got him to commit instead to two Avatar sequels. After that, speculation centered around Paul Greengrass, who wound up instead directing his own script, Memphis, about the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., for Universal, also with Rudin producing. It's not surprising that the top directors in town are after this gig. As Rudin has described it, this is t

Howard Stern Sues Sirius XM Radio

In 2004, before Howard Stern signed a blockbuster deal with Sirius Satellite Radio, he thought about retiring. Instead, he took a "significant risk" and went with Sirius. The moment is captured in a lawsuit filed today in New York Superior Court where Stern's company, One Twelve Inc., and his agent Don Buchwald are pressing charges that Sirius XM Radio stiffed them on promised stock. In 2004, Stern was negotiating with both Sirius and XM, two rivals before they merged in 2008. In the lawsuit, Stern says Sirius got the upper hand by promising him that he would be treated like more than just an employee; that he would share in the company's success. "Sirius needed Stern more than Stern needed Sirius," says the complaint. Sirius signed a deal with Stern whereby One Twelve would be paid performance-based compensation based on escalating stock awards. The promises of stock are said to have been tied to subscriber growth. The rewards were set at high leve
