Ryan Reynolds Wants A Deadpool Film

Though DC diehards will no doubt be eagerly anticipating the big screen arrival of Green Lantern come June 17, there are still millions of us just as excited about the potential of Marvel’s “ Merc With The Mouth ” getting his chance to shine in his own lead role. Empire was on set to speak with Mr. Reynolds himself for our feature on the willpower-wielding cosmic cop (see the current issue), we took a bit of time out with him to talk about Deadpool , beginning with the obvious question… what’s the deal there then? “Deadpool’s still in the works,” he insists. “I’m not sure how logistically it works in terms of scheduling, but yeah, I want it to happen.” And what about the clash of two potential superhero brands, Green Lantern vs. Deadpool? “Those two universes are completely different,” contends Reynolds. “Superhero movies are so pervasive in pop culture, I don’t look at the as superhero roles as much as just roles. They’re such different people. Deadpool is about a guy in a

Diane Lane Cast As Martha Kent In Superman Reboot

Diane Lane is an actress who has seemed perpetually 37 for about 20 years. There's a weary, sexy worldly wisdom to her that has allowed her to appeal to both men and women, either in erotic "thrillers" like "Unfaithful" or big crowd-pleasers like "Secretariat." Thirty-seven is a good age for an actress to seem; old enough to be respected, but young enough to still be attractive to all age groups. Yet the 46-year-old, onetime Oscar-nominee Lane will play Martha Kent , Superman's "mom," in the upcoming Superman reboot. She has played moms before, of course, but not mothers that have typically been portrayed as matronly rocking-chair dwellers. To be fair, with Annette O'Toole on "Smallville," Superman's adoptive parents have gotten younger in recent years; it's still rumored that Kevin Costner will play Pa Kent, after all. (Actually, that's totally not fair: Costner is 56, almost a decade older than Lane.) Lan

Hugo Weaving As Red Skull

EW bring us the first look of Hugo Weaving as the villain Red Skull in the upcoming live action movie Captain America: The First Avenger. The Red Skull, Johann Schmid t (sometimes spelled Shmidt), was a former Nazi general officer and confidant of Adolf Hitler. He has been closely affiliated with HYDRA and is an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, and the interests of the United States and the free world in general. He was physically augmented by having his mind placed into the body of a clone of Captain America, the pinnacle of human perfection. What do you think? Take a look of the entire picture after the Jump... Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in

Trailer For ThunderCats Cartoon On Cartoon Network

We've seen still images , we've seen the toys , we've seen the test footage, but here's the first official trailer showing Lion-O and his merry band of Thunderans in action. And a couple of characters we weren't sure were going to make an appearance raise their snarfy heads. Yeah, that looks like Snarf, Prince Lion-O's annoying sidekick, as well as the Thunderkittens, WilyKit and WilyKat. But despite the potential for the same syrupy cloyingness they brought to the original animated series, it looks like the 2011 show has some other tricks up its sleeve. Namely, some pretty terrific animation. Watch the trailer after the Jump... Maybe it's the apparent scope of the world, but ThunderCats feels like it has something of an Avatar: The Last Airbender vibe. Which is a very, very good thing. See for yourself. Will Tom Welling Suit Up As Superman? Or Should He

We have another great article by our guest writer Jonathan Cyfer . Make sure to check out his blog and follow him on twitter . No, I'm not asking if Tom Welling should portray Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel (2012) film. Henry Cavill already won that role. Let it go, rabid Tom Welling/Smallville fans. Let it go. I mean, should Tom Welling actually portray the Man of Steel in full Superman costume in the last reel of the two-hour Smallville series finale scheduled to air on May 13th? In other words, should Tom Welling actually be Superman on the small screen for any length of time at the end of the series? My answer is " no ". OK, here's my take. The entire series is based on the audience watching Clark develop his abilities and his personality, from a 15 year old kid who, at the start of the series, is just beginning to become aware of his powers, who he is, and (gasp) where he really comes from ("You mean you're no
